Gravity Yacht Luca Vallebona

GRAVITY // Luca Vallebona

Italian architect and yacht design Luca Vallebona unveiled his 62m yacht design GRAVITY

GRAVITY is a full-aluminum motor yacht with asymmetrical design features, as seen on Luca Vallebona’s previous design TLV62 for the Italien shipyard Tankoa Yachts. The exterior design of GRAVITY appears sleek, sporty, yet elegant. The arrow-shaped line from the beginning of the wheelhouse to the sundeck and down to the main deck is a great eye-catcher.

The bow area has a touch-and-go-helipad and houses the tender garage. It is big enough to host an 8.5m tender alongside a 6m boat—furthermore, a 4.20m rescue tender and four jet skis.

The owner’s cabin features a maximum of privacy. The crew has a separate way and separate access to the owners’ private area. The style of the interior design is described with a dualism between vertical and horizontal lines. The galley has large windows that guests can see how the crew is preparing the food.

Interestingly, according to the press release, the crew mess is on the main deck forward instead of the lower deck. But there are eight crew cabins and six guest cabins.

The yacht’s propulsion is composed of two Caterpillar 3512 that meet IMO III requirements. GRAVITY’s cruising speed is 14 knots, and the maximum speed is 16 knots. The operating range is 4,500 nautical miles at 12 knots.

Sea, natural light and fresh air had to be centre stage alongside with his profound love for technical and functional things, simple materials, cars, speed, primary colours. So, we chose to modulate the use of materials and glare, as if we were selecting appropriate key words for creative writing.”

Sailing Yacht BASYC JFA Yachts

BASYC // JFA Yachts

JFA Yachts built the 22m (70 feet) fast-cruiser sailing yacht BASYC, designed by Finot-Conq

The fast-cruiser BASYC is also known as Project FC² 70′ – FC² stands for Finot Conq x Fast Cruiser. The design studio is very well-known for performance oriented sailing yachts.

FC² has an aluminum hull, a superstructure in glass/epoxy, and a carbon-fiber rig.

The draft of 4.40 m provides a deep barycenter for a large sail plan for more speed. To spent time in smaller harbors and anchor bays, the draft can be reduced to 2.00 m. The fast sailing yacht with the wide stern features a double rudder. To maneuver easily with the single-screwed engine, BASYC has a stern thruster alongside the bow thruster.

Light and bright interior

The interior uses a lightweight veneer of Zebrano wood with white surfaces and orange upholstery as accents. Windows in the superstructure and the hull allow a lot of natural light in the interior. The owner’s cabin and a cabin for the crew are forward located while two guest cabins are at the aft. All cabins have ensuite bathrooms.

In addition to the diesel generator, there are two hydro generators mounted on the stern to recharge the battery banks during sailing trips.

The tender garage houses a 3.40m boat

Anna Borla - one of the finalists of the Young Designer of the Year 2020 awards created the 87m concept BLACK HERON.

The 2020-edition of Boat International’s Young Designer of the Year awards had the task to plan the refit of an existing Oceanco motor yacht with a length of 87 meters. To reduce the costs, yacht designer Anna Borla focused on cosmetic upgrades than on structural changes on project BLACK HERON.

“The new black lines on the superstructure that seem like big windows, allow hiding the original superstructure and keeping the original portholes.”

The large spa and gym area with a space of 274 square meters features an indoor pool (alongside the other big one on the main deck aft). Dry amenities can be found in two cinemas and a basketball court.

Thanks to large glass surfaces, the interior is full of daylight and offers great panoramic views. Luca Abbate describes his interior design as follows:

“In comparison with the exterior lines, the interior is marked by a chromatic variety coming from a wide material choice. Van der Valk Pilot 26m

Van der Valk - new Pilot-series

Van der Valk launched the new Pilot-serie - stylish designs from 23m and longer.

The renderings below are from the 26m version of the Van der Valk Pilot line. The very distinctive and innovative design comes from Cor D. Rover. I like the way how Van der Valk grows with innovations like the BeachClub 600 and BeachClub 660 with its aft salon and the engine room integrated into the bathing platform. Now comes a very stylish design for owners who love an explorer/workboat character with a very modern reinterpretation.

The fixed bathing platform is enormous for 26m yacht. It measures 4.90m – long enough to a smaller RIB and a jetski. There is also the option to order the boat with an Opacmare Transformer. A crane on the sun deck moves bigger tenders.

The full-beam owners’ suite is on the main deck forward. Furthermore, the main deck houses the galley, a bar, dining and salon, and an outside area with lounge seatings.

The sun deck features a second helm station, a U-shaped sofa with a table, sunbeds, and a big bar.

The lower deck contains two twin guest cabins and a full-beam VIP cabin. The crew area comes with a mess and two double cabins. Moreover, the crew has a separate stairway.

Red Yacht Design developed together with Dykstra Naval Architects project ICE KITE for a German client.

Here comes an extraordinary project: ICE KITE with a kite propulsion system and a matching support vessel called KITE GHOST, designed by Red Yacht Design with naval architecture by Dykstra Naval Architects. The project is under construction at a Dutch shipyard that isn’t named at the date of publication.

With a length of 64m, ICE KITE is the longest yacht under a gross tonnage of 500 GT. Alongside the kite propulsion, another eye-catcher is the distinctive exterior with a reverse bow, a large open foredeck with a touch-and-go helipad, and a superstructure that uses a lot of glass.

Motor yacht with focus on saving resources

Alongside the kite from the Hamburg-based company SkySails to reduce the use of the engines with an optimized hull. A daggerboard improves the use of the kite in close wind angles. To follow the owner’s philosophy, to save resources, he wants to offer the yacht for fractional ownership.

Interior Features

The yacht has a kite lounge, surrounded by glass with a 180-degree view to observe the kite’s fly. Furthermore, the lounge can be transformed into indoor dining.

The owner’s full-beam suite on the lower deck offers his & her dressing and bathrooms, a private lounge, the owner’s office, and separate access from the main deck — Moreover, direct access to the spa area.

Small-sized superyacht Contest 55 CS, designed by judel/vrolijk from Germany and Wetzels Brown Partners.

During the boot 2020 in Düsseldorf, I visited the new Contest 55 CS. Alongside the typical elegant Contest Yachts lines, designed by judel/vrolijk, the yacht has an interior design by Wetzels Brown Partners. Talking about the interior, the inside area of the boat feels very roomy for a sailing yacht under 20 meters. Moreover, the designers and the yard chose bright and beautiful materials for a luxury and comfortable feeling.

The hull structure features carbon fiber elements to reduce the size of some components. This procedure is certified by Lloyd’s.

The price ranges between 1.4 and 1.7 Million euros, but I think this is worth it for a yacht that feels like a superyacht in a manageable size without additional crew.
