A new unit of the semi-custom yacht line Amels 200 enters the outfitting stage in Vlissingen.

This third vessel of the Amels 200 (the first one is known as Amels 188 VOLPINI 2) marks the first collaboration with interior designer Laura Pomponi of the Italian studio Luxury Projects, with offices in Ancona and Rome. The interior design comes with curvy lines and warm earth tones.

Like the VOLPINI 2, this boat features hybrid propulsion as well. Furthermore, an elevator that connects four decks. The sun deck has an enclosed area with an air-conditioned gym.

Soaring Yacht Abeking

SOARING // Abeking & Rasmussen

Lemwerder-based shipyard delivered the 68m motor yacht SOARING.

The exterior and interior of SOARING have been created by the Bremen-based studio Focus Yacht Design. The yacht’s name comes from the soaring of a majestic eagle. Abeking & Rasmussen constructed the displacement motor yacht with a steel hull and an aluminum superstructure for an experienced yacht owner.

SOARING can be chartered for 850,000 € per week.

The tender garage has been placed forward on the main deck. On the starboard side is a 9m limo tender, on the port side is a 7.50m tender – both are by Compass. Furthermore, SOARING carries a 5.5m Pascoe rescue boat. Toys are stored on the lower deck.

“What is good design? There are, as there have always been, different opinions on this. The Focus Yacht Design office developed its very own design definition. We are less interested in the questions of materiality, of forms, colours and fashions. We work primarily with the interpretation and the character of a yacht, seen as a singularity, an essence and also as a reflection of the owner’s personality. This personality alone is the decisive criteria for all the aesthetic and technical decision making on all FYD projects. The same applies to the development of the interior and exterior design for MY SOARING. Our goal was not to put together a selection of attractive details, but to create a coherent and harmonious whole that was to be simultaneously impressive and imposing but most of all a reflection and representation of the owner’s central life themes and requests.
It is most probably this very personal approach that positively surprised and convinced the owner from the very beginning. There were almost no design changes, but always very clear ideas and visions of what SOARING was to be that grew out of a very close collaboration. This gave rise to numerous unique and unconventional solutions, such as the back-lit onyx wall in the library. It is features like these, the successful fusion of classical and contemporary yacht design elements that imbue SOARING with a certain charisma. One of the many examples of this concept is the deliberately reduced but simultaneously expressive design language, such as the contrast of very light and very dark veneers. It is great to see how our concept has impacted the end result in such a purposeful and meaningful way. SOARING is a fascinating sight, but what is even more important for us is that she is a bespoke place of wellbeing, relaxation and enjoyment.”

X-Treme X-105 Yacht

The X-Treme X-105 by Holterman Shipyard features the new stabilizer system Waveless by CMC Marine - moreover, the ARGO and Directa 120 systems.

The fresh and masculine exterior comes from Bernd Weel Design, while Diana Yacht Design did the calculations, and Trimm Design draws interior design. Alongside the eye-catching exterior design, another great feature is the tender launching system aft that welcomes a 10m RIB on a 32m yacht. Moreover, there is an integrated 5m pool. Another place for water toys, jet skis, and a 3.45m boat is amidships.

With its twin Volvo D16MH engines (551 kW each), the X-105 can reach a top speed of 15 knots and has a range of 2,400 nautical miles at her cruising speed of 10 knots.

Delivery is scheduled for July 2021.

The X-105 has four electric fin stabilizers by Waveless that belongs to CMC Marine. The company engineered this system for yachts from 12 to 40 meters. Furthermore, they also deliver the electric steering system Directa 120 and the control system ARGO.

Four guest cabins are placed on the lower deck, together with the crew area. The owner suite is on the main deck.

Perini Navi 42m E-VOLUTION GTS

Perini Navi has the E-Volution GTS under construction. The 42m yacht features an in-house design and naval architecture by Reichel-Pugh.

The exterior comes with an elegant yet sporty and fresh design with a generous stern area that features several sunbeds and vast double helm station. The design leaves the typical Perini Navi designs known in the past.

The owner of the 42m E-Volution GTS sails regattas, so he needs a lightweight and performance-oriented sailing yachts. The yacht features an aluminum hull and parts made of carbon-fiber to save some weight. The mast has a Panamax height of 62.50 meters and wears exquisite sail haute couture of 1.230 sqm (upwind) with a square-top mainsail. A four-meter long bowsprit connects a larger foresail.

There currently no interior renderings or photos, but GCA Architects from Barcelona style it. The yacht’s layout has three guest cabins and a full-beam owner’s suite aft. The forward area houses the crew area with three cabins for six crew members plus the captain.

Hull finished

The hull of the 42m E-Volution was built at the Perini Navi facility in Tuzla, Turkey, and had was towed to Viareggio for the outfitting phase.

NEW ERA Hydrogen Fuel Cell Yacht Lorenzo Lippi

Italian yacht designer Lorenzo Lippi created a 50m motor yacht concept that runs on hydrogen fuel cells.

NEW ERA is the master thesis project by Lorenzo Lippi, who graduated in Naval and Nautical Design at the University of Genoa. He collected experience at the Italian shipyard Tankoa Yachts as a project manager with project ELETTRA.

The project is inspired by the 112m fuel cell yacht AQUA by Sinot, the 62m hydrogen vessel by H2, the Race for Water project, the 65m Watchecho by VSY, and last but not least, the hydrogen racing car H2 Speed by Pininfarina.

Alongside the protection of the environment that becomes more and more important with zero-emission technology, electric propulsion increases the comfort and luxury onboard with the smell of diesel, sound, and vibrations.

A Yacht that produces Hydrogen

The yacht concept features Liquid Organic Hydrogen Carriers (LOHC) to store the hydrogen. Usually, hydrogen is explosive, must be stored under high-pressure and is highly flammable. LOHC improves these problems and makes it easy to handle.

Electrolyzer and watermaker (to filter out the salt of the seawater), and the onboard electricity are powered by a 240 sqm (96 kW) area of solar panels (there is also a bimini with fabric by Solar Cloth System). The electrolyzer produces 650 liters of hydrogen per hour, 300 liters of water per hour comes from watermaker, and the LOHC box generates 240 liters per hour.

The layout of the traditional with a full-beam owner’s suite on the main deck forward and features a private balcony, bathroom, desk and walk-in closet. The rear part of the main deck houses a formal dining table for up to twelve people, main salon, and beach club.

The lower deck accommodates two VIP and two guest cabins, alongside the crew area—furthermore, the technical rooms for the fuel cells, engines, and LOHC tank storage.

Skylounge, wheelhouse, captain’s cabin and al-fresco dining can be found on the upper deck.

Perini Navi 75m Heritage

Perini Navi 75m Heritage

The 75m Heritage by Perini Navi features design by Zuccon International Project and naval architecture by Philippe Briand.

I love designs with a low and sleek profile like this 75m design of the HERITAGE-series. The yacht features large open spaces aft and forward. The bow area has a beautiful flush-deck design, while the aft area features a pool, surrounded by sunbeds and stairs that lead to the beach club with gym and seatings inside. Fold-out platforms open the view over the sea.

The tender storage is forward and houses a bigger boat, a RIB, and a crew tender.

The full-beam owner’s suite contains the bedroom, office, his & her bathroom, and a walk-in closet. Next to the owner’s area are two double guest cabins, while four more guest cabins are on the lower deck. Furthermore, the lower deck accommodates a crew of 24 people with galley, mess, and crew gym. The captain’s cabin is next to the wheelhouse.

Created as daysailer and weekender - the Baltic 68 Café Racer

The Baltic 68 Café Racer appears with an excellent progressive and aggressive design. Moreover, not only the design is progressive, but also the choice of materials. Baltic Yachts will use natural materials like flax, which can be very interesting. Some weeks ago, I sailed the small daysailer Flax 27 by Greenboats from Bremen, Germany. Alongside the exceptional performance of the boat, it is also the design with visible flax fibers (the “counterpart” of visible carbon fiber). Javier Jaudenes designed the 20m sailing yacht. He draw also the lines of the Baltic 108 WINWIN.

Onboard energy

A 30 kW electric engine supports port manouvers and during low wind trips. To recharge the lithium battery, the yacht uses solar cells and a hydrodynamic generator. Furthermore, a microturbine serves as a range extender that can run on hydrogen.

Baltic Yachts focuses also on the power consumption of the board systems:

“Our system mixes re-circulated, less humid air with fresh air to reduce the amount of power needed to maintain the desired onboard ‘climate’. UV filters ensure the air is bacteria-free and solar panels can power the system in eco mode with no draw from the battery bank.”

Known for designs far away from beaten paths, the Monaco-based yacht brand Dynamiq presents the new Dynamiq GTT 160 with helipad.

Alongside the remarkable designs, another feature of Dynamiq Yachts is their configurator with price transparency directly online without contact a salesperson to get the first information and possible options. The price of the Dynamiq GTT 160 starts at €19,900,00 – my configured version ended at €24,354,142 (almost full) without VAT and custom works.

The standard configuration is powered by two straight six-cylinder MAN i6-730 (537 kW each) that support a maximum speed of 17 knots and a transatlantic range of 2,700 nautical miles at 14 knots. With the economical speed of 10 knots, the range is 4,000 nm. If you wish a top speed of 23 knots, you can choose MAN V12-1800 engines. In case you want excellent comfort, the yacht is available with hybrid propulsion and electric-only mode to sneak on short distances.

The exterior design has been created in-house by Sergei Dobroserdov, who is also the founder and CEO of Dynamiq Yachts. Van Oossanen did the naval architecture. The Hullvane foil (developed by Van Oossanen) is available as an option to enhance fuel efficiency.

The forward area is the garage for a 21-feet Castoldi Jet Tender and a helipad for helicopters of a weight up to 3,000 kg.

The interior of the Dynamiq GTT 160 can be equipped with excellent luxury goods by Minotti, Meissen porcelain, and Accessosois by Bottega Veneta or Sabrina Monte Carlo.

Sergei Dobroserdov explains the idea behind the Dynamiq GTT 160

“The idea was to create the most attractive proposal for a superyacht of just under 50 meters. There are so many 50-meter yachts below 500GT available, but they all look very similar with pretty much the same functionality. We asked ourselves, ‘What can we bring to the market that makes more sense for our clients?’ The answer was to focus on modern owners’ priorities and leave the less important things aside. So we decided to design the GTT 160 with the accent on the key factors: well-being, efficiency, and price. In terms of naval architecture, we selected a slender hull with a long waterline that is much more efficient and comfortable than a short, wide one. So rather than maximizing the interior volume, we analyzed everything an owner wants or needs in terms of general arrangement and features. We then arrived at a concept that provides the motion comfort of a 55-meter yacht with a conventional flared bow.”

Hide Anna Borla Yacht Design

Something completely different: The 50m yacht design HIDE by Anna Borla.

HIDE was designed for the Rossinavi Design Challenge. The exterior design is entirely different to any other concept. The sizeable open foredeck offers more outdoor privacy when the yacht is moored with the stern in marinas. There is a large pool, surrounded by sunbeds and a dining table for up to eight people. It can be covered by a removable bimini to create a shaded area. With an eye on an eco-friendly yacht, Anna Borla has hybrid propulsion with large lithium batteries in mind, supported by solar cells on the roof of the wheelhouse.

The owner’s apartment contains the full-beam bedroom with balconies on each side, studio/library, lobby, and the bathroom. The guest accommodation for up to eight people is on the lower deck with two VIP and two twin guest cabins. Furthermore, a crew area for eight people in four cabins is in the forward area of the lower deck. The captain’s cabin is next to the wheelhouse.

The gym and beach club area at the stern is accessible through an electric hatch from the main deck.

With PINK SHADOW, Damen Shipyards comes with a smaller 46m yacht support vessel and the first one that supports a sailing yacht.

PINK SHADOW is the first unit of the 46m range of the Yacht Support Vessel line by Damen Shipyards – the mother company of the luxury yacht builder AMELS. PINK SHADOW is the support vessel of the 54m carbon-fiber sloop-rigged sailing yacht PINK GIN by Baltic Yachts. The vessel was launched as JOY RIDER in 2019.

The open aft deck with spacious 120 sqm is equipped with a 6.7-ton crane to move big and heavy tenders & toys that cannot be stored on the main yacht. The multifunctional open aft deck offers also room for big parties or touch and go helipad for helicopters up to 3,700 kg.

There is accommodation for six additional guests and a crew of seven. Furthermore, outdoor spaces on the bridge deck and a lounge on the main deck.

The top speed is 16.5 knots and has an operating range of 5,000 nautical miles. The vessel has a gross tonnage of 310 GT.

PINK SHADOW welcomes up to 200 party guests on the open aft deck. The vessel transports two 10m tenders to transport the guests, Land Rover Defender as onshore tender, storing parts of PINK GIN to reduce the weight for regattas, additional accommodation for guests and staff. Moreover, an observation platform to watch PINK GIN during races.

After the sale, PINK SHADOW got some modifications to meet the owner’s requirements like a new color scheme and an artwork on the bow.

Souhaib Rouissi designed the 114m yacht design ODYSSEUS with Roman design features.

Designer Souhaib Rouissi used Romain design features for his 114m yacht ODYSSEUS. The beam of the boat is 22.30 meters. The bow design is a real eye-catcher – seen on Roman ships. The designer also used details like Roman pillars for the pool design. Furthermore, there are symbols like the design of the forward-facing touch-and-go helipad.

Together with Studio dell’architetto Matteo Picchio, Young Yacht Designer of Year finalist Anna Borla created a 67m Explorer Yacht Conversion.

The base for the conversion is the PSV 118 supply ship. The design team created an entirely new superstructure and also made some changes to the hull design above the waterline. The result is a modern looking explorer yacht with a generous open deck to welcome a helicopter and tenders.

The yacht accommodates up to 20 guests in six guest cabins and two VIP cabins on the upper deck. The guest area contains a gym, cinema, and a Jacuzzi room. Furthermore, the vessel has a private owner’s deck with a forward-facing bedroom, private salon, office, sky lounge, and terrace.

Blue Ocean Damen Yacht Support

The 17th Damen Yacht Support vessel has been launched and christened BLUE OCEAN

BLUE OCEAN is the first unit of the Damen Yacht Support line with a big hangar to host a workshop, a dive operating center, et cetera. Speaking of diving, the aft area contains a 50 sqm dive center. The 240 sqm open deck welcomes big tenders of up to 15 meters, submarines, cars, a waterplane, or a helicopter (up to 3,700 kg). A 15-ton crane with a reach of 10 meters helps to move the loads. Furthermore, an A-frame crane is also possible.

The gross tonnage of the 55.5m vessel is below 500 GT and has a low draft of 3 meters. The range of BLUE OCEAN is 5,000 nautical miles at ten knots.

The yacht support vessel also offers further guest cabins for up to eight guests. Moreover, the ship accommodates additional staff and the vessel’s crew (eleven in total).

The vessel is available from Summer 2020.

The 100m yacht design OPTIMUS is a creation by the Dutch studio Hartform Yacht Design.

Dutch yacht designer Barry Hartman Kok is an autodidact in design and worked for renowned companies like Feadship and Sinot Yacht Architecture. Moreover, he has a background in product design for non-yacht related brands like Philipps, KLM, etc.

OPTIMUS comes up with six decks very smooth lines, especially at the stern where the lines appear like a wave. Talking about the stern, there is a 14m infinity pool. A Jacuzzi can be found on the sundeck, surrounded by sunbeds. The forward area features a fire pit with a C-shaped lounge sofa.

The interior accommodates up to 16 guests in four VIP cabins and four guest cabins—moreover, a crew of up to 32 people. The persona of the owner is someone who combines enjoying yachting also with business partners.

User Experience Engineering on the bridge: Team Italia developed a head-up display for its I-Bridge system on Sanlorenzo's 64m ATTILA.

The 55′ head-up display shows the route, waypoints, AIS, and Automatic Radar Plotting Aid targets. Moreover, other useful information to navigate with focus steering the yacht. Very useful in sea lanes with high traffic or narrow waterways. The shown system has been installed on Sanlorenzo’s 64m yacht ATTILA.

Italian architect and yacht design Luca Vallebona unveiled his 62m yacht design GRAVITY

GRAVITY is a full-aluminum motor yacht with asymmetrical design features, as seen on Luca Vallebona’s previous design TLV62 for the Italien shipyard Tankoa Yachts. The exterior design of GRAVITY appears sleek, sporty, yet elegant. The arrow-shaped line from the beginning of the wheelhouse to the sundeck and down to the main deck is a great eye-catcher.

The bow area has a touch-and-go-helipad and houses the tender garage. It is big enough to host an 8.5m tender alongside a 6m boat—furthermore, a 4.20m rescue tender and four jet skis.

The owner’s cabin features a maximum of privacy. The crew has a separate way and separate access to the owners’ private area. The style of the interior design is described with a dualism between vertical and horizontal lines. The galley has large windows that guests can see how the crew is preparing the food.

Interestingly, according to the press release, the crew mess is on the main deck forward instead of the lower deck. But there are eight crew cabins and six guest cabins.

The yacht’s propulsion is composed of two Caterpillar 3512 that meet IMO III requirements. GRAVITY’s cruising speed is 14 knots, and the maximum speed is 16 knots. The operating range is 4,500 nautical miles at 12 knots.

ISA GT 45 Yacht Enrico Gobbi

ISA Yachts sold the second unit of the ISA GT 45.

The ISA GT 45 is a creation by the Italian studio Enrico Gobbi – Team for Design (exterior) and Luca Dini (interior).
Palumbo Superyachts did the naval architecture. The 45m yacht will be delivered in 2021 to her European owner and has a steel hull with an aluminum superstructure.

The owner has a full-beam cabin with a private balcony and direct access to the bow area. The ISA GT 45 welcomes eight additionally guests in four cabins on the
lower deck. Moreover, the crew quarter accommodates up to seven crew members. The aft area houses one of the biggest pools in the yacht’s class.

The main deck features large glass surfaces so that the guests can enjoy great views from dining or the salon.

The operating range is 3,500 nautical miles at twelve knots.

Luca Dini is responsible for the interior design of the 45m yacht. He comments:

“The first encounter with the owner of this ISA GT45m was dazzling: an enlightened, forward-looking, open-minded entrepreneur. Sea, natural light and fresh air had to be centre stage alongside with his profound love for technical and functional things, simple materials, cars, speed, primary colours. So, we chose to modulate the use of materials and glare, as if we were selecting appropriate key words for creative writing.”

Vitters launched the 50m classic-styled ketch Meraki for an experienced sailor.

The new launched yacht comes with an interior design by Rhoades Young. and exterior design and naval architecture by Hoek Design. Vitters optimized the layout together with Hoek. Furthermore, Christopher B. Bouzaid who was involved in the hull shape development and Clay Oliver Yacht Design who oversaw the optimization of the underwater ship completed the design team.

MERAKI is a Alustar aluminum-hulled sailing yacht with a carbon-fiber rig. Aft is a separate cockpit for the owner and the guests. Another cockpit is amidships and crew cockpit forward at the mainmast. The guest cabins are in front of the owner’s cabin aft. Four double crew cabins are in the forward area of the yacht.

“This new project is a fine example of why Vitters continues to attract knowledgeable sailors looking for the best possible sailing yacht,” comments the yard project manager “The owner was seeking the finest Dutch quality and admired our previous work. JFA Yachts built the 22m (70 feet) fast-cruiser sailing yacht BASYC, designed by Finot-Conq

The fast-cruiser BASYC is also known as Project FC² 70′ – FC² stands for Finot Conq x Fast Cruiser. The design studio is very well-known for performance oriented sailing yachts.

FC² has an aluminum hull, a superstructure in glass/epoxy, and a carbon-fiber rig.

The draft of 4.40 m provides a deep barycenter for a large sail plan for more speed. To spent time in smaller harbors and anchor bays, the draft can be reduced to 2.00 m. The fast sailing yacht with the wide stern features a double rudder. To maneuver easily with the single-screwed engine, BASYC has a stern thruster alongside the bow thruster.

Light and bright interior

The interior uses a lightweight veneer of Zebrano wood with white surfaces and orange upholstery as accents. Windows in the superstructure and the hull allow a lot of natural light in the interior. The owner’s cabin and a cabin for the crew are forward located while two guest cabins are at the aft. All cabins have ensuite bathrooms.

In addition to the diesel generator, there are two hydro generators mounted on the stern to recharge the battery banks during sailing trips.
