Euphoria 68 - 21 meters of clean luxury

The Euphoria 68 is a luxurious production sailing yacht with a nice clean exterior design by Frers Naval Architecture & Engineering and an interior design by Design Unlimited.

The flat superstructure offers a great user experience while standing at the helm station. The cockpit offers a lot of space to enjoy dinner with family and friends. When removing the table there is also a good space for a working regatta crew.


The salon is full of natural light thanks to windows in the hull, the superstructure, and skylights. Also, the chosen materials are bright that the yacht has no basement feeling.

The owners’ suite is located in the bow and features an en-suite bathroom, double bed, lounger and a desk for office works or as a vanity. Also, a crew cabin is located in the bow but has an own ladderway.

Two guest cabins (one double and one twin bed) are located at the aft area. Both cabins are also equipped with en-suite bathrooms.

In an alternative layout, the owners’ cabin is aft and the guest cabins are forward. The bathing platform opens a lazarette for tender and toy storage, so the deck is free of equipment.

The price for the Euphoria 68 is about EUR 1.800.000.

NDS Evolution Yacht

NDS Evolution by JFA Yachts (Long Island 85)

JFA Yachts delivered the second unit of the Long Island 85-series, christened NDS EVOLUTION. The first unit is the Windquest.

The exterior design of the Long Island 85 comes from naval architect Marc Lombard. The yacht is a lightweight construction with aluminum hulls and composite superstructure. Furthermore, NDS EVOLUTION is equipped with a carbon fiber rig and a performance sail design with D4 technology. The whole yacht comes with a displacement of just 56 tons. During the sea trials, the yacht reached eleven knots upwind with true winds of fifteen knots.

Darnet Design is responsible for the interior design that features lightweight furniture. The saloon features a 360-degree view, dining table, a helm station and a bar. In the hulls are three guest cabins, two crew cabins, and the galley.

The owner’s cabin is located on the foredeck (has the full-beam between the hulls) and features a panoramic view and direct access to the foredeck net. The owners’ bathroom has been placed in the port side hull together with the children cabin with three beds and a guest cabin.

The starboard hull has two further guest cabins, the galley and the cabin for a crew of two.

The Infiniti 105 comes with a very progressive, elegant, dynamic design and a very clean deck layout. Alongside her dynamic look, she comes also with the Dynamic Stability System – also known as DSS – with horizontal foils. The system is proven in the Infiniti 36 and 46. Also, the Baltic 142 will feature a DSS.

There are two bow options. You can choose the pictured reverse bow or a vertical stem. Another option is the seating area in the cockpit. The renderings show the racing version with space for the regatta crew but there is also a cruising version.

There are two general arrangements available. Layout A sees an inviting full-beam saloon with sofa and TV screen in the middle. The big skylight delivers a lot of natural light in the saloon. The bow area belongs to the owner. Two guest cabins (one with Pullman beds, one with twin bed arrangement) are between saloon and owners cabin. The crew area for four persons is aft and has one bathroom for the crew.

Layout B has a sofa area on the port side and dining on starboard. The galley moved from the crew area to the middle between saloon and guest areas. The crew area is getting more comfortable with ensuites. A tender is stored in a garage aft.

JFA Yachts: Finot-Conq Fast-Cruiser

JFA Yachts built a 22m (70 feet) fast-cruiser sailing yacht, designed by Finot-Conq

The fast-cruiser has the project name FC² 70′ – FC² stands for Finot Conq x Fast Cruiser. The design studio is very well-known for performance oriented sailing yachts.

FC² has an aluminum hull, a superstructure in glass/epoxy and a carbon rig.

The draft of 4.40 m provides a deep barycenter for a large sail plan for more speed. To spent time in smaller harbors and anchor bays, the draft can be reduced to 2.00 m.

The interior uses a lightweight veneer of Zebrano. The owner’s cabin and a cabin for the crew is forward located while two guest cabins are at the aft.

A tender of 3.40 m can be stored in a stern garage. Sea trials start soon before the yacht will be delivered to her owner.

Baltic 68 Performance Cruiser

Baltic Yachts has a new 20m custom-made performance cruiser under construction: The Baltic 68

The new Baltic 68 features naval architecture by the performance specialists Reichel/Pugh. The development team had a focus on a lightweight yacht of just 24.2 tons thanks to its carbon construction. Also fast is the construction time of just 13 months: Delivery is scheduled in October 2019.

The yacht has an owners’ suite with en-suite, two guest cabins and forward a crew area for four persons.

36m sailing yacht made in Germany - the BD120 by beiderbeck designsKnierim Yachtbau and Ocean Independence.

Perhaps you are thinking “I’ve seen that before“? Then you know the yacht as Dahm 120, presented in 2016. Now it is a project with a Made in Germany stamp. Although I am not a wheelchair user, the feature that the yacht is wheelchair accessible is one of my favorite features. An optional lift can be ordered to reach the cabins.

Also, other areas have a focus on functional design: The double helm station is placed in front of the deck salon. A solution for owners who want more privacy with their guests. The crew can work forward and the guests can enjoy the aft area. Furthermore, beiderbeck designs explains that the position of the helm station in the middle conveys the feeling of steering a 20m sailing yacht.

The spacious deck saloon has a floor area of 55 sqm and comes with a 360-degree view and window surface of 65 sqm to provide a lot of natural light and a loft feeling. These numbers are usually can be found on motor yachts, explains Immo Lüdeling of beiderbeck designs.

The owners’ suite forward has an own separate office, the two twin-bed guest cabins and the two VIP suites are equipped with en-suites. The crew area is aft with the mess, galley and direct access to the engine room and technical area.

The German yard Knierim Yachtbau is known as the builder of the German America’s Cup yacht Germany 1, Tûranor PlanetSolar and the racing yacht UCA for the experienced sailor and entrepreneur Klaus Murmann (deceased in 2014).

The bd120 is for sale as a turnkey project and has a price of EUR 18.5 Mio.

HISWA Superyacht Press Tour 2018

The Netherlands - land of bicycles, cheese, wooden shoes, awesome architecture, fields full of colorful tulips and the inventors of yachts.

The word “yacht” came from the Dutch word “jacht” that means hunt and were light navy vessels to chase pirates. Wealthy Dutch people used them also as pleasure boats.

I was one of the lucky ladies and gentlemen to attend to the Superyacht Press Tour 2018, organized by the HISWA Holland Superyacht Group that represents members of the Dutch superyacht industry.

Some weeks ago, I got an e-mail that I was nominated for the Superyacht Press Tour in its 2018 edition – A special thank you goes to the Amels shipyard who nominated me – I checked my calendar, changed some appointments I had in the week from the 28th to the 31st of May.

I got a programme with a list of journalists who are also attending. It was like the who’s who of the international yachting media. Also, the participating HISWA members are the best of the best (Feadship, Amels, Heesen, Royal Huisman, Wajer Yachts) who opened their doors for us nosy people.

Day One

Could Amsterdam a destination for superyacht owners?

The day began in Amsterdam in a meeting room of the citizenM hotel Schiphol with a meet and greet with the organizers and the other participating journalists. Furthermore, representatives of Port of Amsterdam attended to give us first insights into the plans what the Port of Amsterdam is doing to be attractive for superyacht owners. Usually, superyacht owners come to northern Europe to inspect their yachts during the building and refit process or maiden voyages in Scandinavian areas. The main area to enjoy their yachts is in the Med or the Caribbean. But if you have been to Amsterdam, you know it is a beautiful city with great architecture and all that you need. Recently, more yacht owners discovered also northern areas like Svalbard (M/Y Kamalaya, M/Y Latitude or M/Y Gene Machine). Amsterdam is on the way for a stopover and Het Scheepvaartmuseum is an awesome picture background for floating arts.

There are also other secured capabilities to dock a superyacht right in the city center like the Passenger Terminal and the UNESCO World Heritage City Center.


After the presentation of the HISWA and Port of Amsterdam, we headed over to the little island Kaag to visit the Feadship facility. In a presentation, we saw some renderings of projects till 2021. Feadship has currently seven yachts from 58m to 110m (Project 1007) in the outfitting stage by famous designers like RWD, Bannenberg & Rowell, Sinot Exclusive Yacht Design, and Michael Leach. Another designer is Jarkko Jämsén of the Finnish design studio Aivan who worked for XO Boats, Axopar, and some private clients.

Furthermore, Feadship showed us a rendering video of their new facility in Amsterdam where they can build yachts up to 160 meters with better access to the north sea without the complicated transport from Kaag.

Hiswa Superyacht Press Tour 2018

Following this interesting insights, we had a tour through the facilities and the support vessel SHERPA – a very impressive vessel. Outside the heavy duty industrial styled ship, inside the gentlemen styled interior with dark wood and an open fireplace in the saloon under the helipad.

Last but not least, Feadship invited us for a lunch at Tante Kee – a very exquisite restaurant in front of the shipyard with water view. Very professional service but it felt like eating at friends. Furthermore, we had the chance for a little cruise with M/Y AMMERLAND from 1966 that looks shiny like a new one. A nice detail for myself: Ammerland is a region next to my hometown Oldenburg and the first owners came from there.


Day Two


In the morning, we arrived at the historic administration building of Amels and Damen. Although Amels is the yacht division and Damen the commercial ship part, Damen builds the support vessels and the SeaXplorer. Both brands co-exist in the superyacht industry and working together from research to sales.

After a short press conference about the Limited Editions, the Yacht Support Vessels, and the SeaXplorer concept, we got a tour through the shipyard. Speaking of SeaXplorer, there are many bold concepts in drawers of shipyards and designers but Amels sold a 65m (for 2019) and a 77m model (for 2020).

Limited Editions

The success of the Limited Editions is impressive. The first unit of this series was delivered in 2007 (still under the same ownership), over 40 yachts were sold, six model from 55m up to 83m are available. According to Amels, every yacht was delivered on time and on budget.

Overview of the Limited Editions

The owner of the 4th hull of the Amels Limited Edition 242 (sister ship here) gave the permission to tour through the hull. It is very interesting to see a semi-custom yacht concept in that size. Speaking again of saving time: The hull we saw arrived six weeks ago and will be launched a year later. Yes, we are still talking about a 74m superyacht. That’s super fast and the owner can enjoy the yacht with an interior of his favorite designer. When you prefer to own a yacht with a completely own exterior design, you have to wait some years.

Amels 180 vs. Amels 188

During our visit, the third almost finished unit of a 242 was moored at the yard, a new hull of a 180, a finished and just delivered 180 and the first Amels 188 christened Volpini 2  (a repeat client with interior design by Reymond Langton). Glad to be there at the right time for a real life comparison of the yachts with almost the same size. Although the 188 is just five meters longer, the yacht has more hull volume. The Amels 180 has a gross tonnage of 671 and the Amels 188 has a gross tonnage of 970. Furthermore, the 188 got fresher lines that makes her more looking sporty but the 180 looks sleeker.

What's about full-custom yachts?

Yes, Amels can deliver full-custom too. The yard delivered 29 yachts since 1982. A 78m Espen Oeino design is currently under construction with a delivery date for 2021. Furthermore, 44 superyacht refits up to almost 100 meters are completed to date.

Next stop: Oceanco

Later this day, we arrived at the Oceanco shipyard in Alblasserdam – the birthplace of one of the most exciting sailing yachts: BLACK PEARL. The massive 90m Project SHARK (unfortunately no pictures allowed – just the official pictures distributed by the yard) was still there. It was a beautiful view when our tour bus drove along the yacht. Oceanco’s administration building is full of very big yacht models and a paradise for people who are interested in yacht or ship models. The staff of Oceanco toured us also through project JASMINE that will be launched in 2019.

After that tour, we entered the new Oceanco building where another press conference took place on the foredeck of the 105m project BRAVO (Y718). A new strategic partnership with BMT Nigel Gee where announced. The core team of the large yacht division works now under the brand Lateral Naval Architects. Because of their new slogan is Ask new questions, my claim to see new innovations is very high-leveled.

Day Three

Breakfast with Moonen Yachts

Moonen Yachts (known for their ocean-going displacement yachts) joined us at the hotel in Made for breakfast and gave us an overview in a presentation by CEO Johan Dubbelman of the latest/current refit (M/Y Ciao) and new build projects like 36m motor yacht BRIGADOON (a Martinique model of the Caribbean-series) and a sister ship.

Heesen Yachts welcomed us in a well-decorated drydock (I like meetings in an industrial environment) together with the naval architecture company Van Oossanen to give us an overview of the latest projects and futuristic yachts like Project MAXIMUS, the elegant Project AVANTI, (my personal favorite of motor yacht designs) and yachts with low noise and low vibration hybrid propulsion like M/Y HOME. During the lunch, we had the chance to talk with the Heesen staff.

Heesen Yachts prepared something for us. The tank test models weren’t just decoration – they were there for a tank test hull paddling contest. Kayaks with a bulbous bow and a semi-displacement hull by Van Oossanen are very rare but should be a must-have in each superyacht tender storage.

Arriving Royal Huisman - The shopping mall of superyachts

Later this day, we arrived Vollenhove – the residence of Royal Huisman and its subsidiary Rondal. Why do I call it the superyacht shopping mall? Together with Rondal, Royal Huisman builds all main parts under one roof. The yard is about one hour away (by car) from the Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (with helicopter much more faster). When the owner wants to check his project during the building process, he can see the hull, the interior (will be build up first as a mockup before it comes into the yacht) and also all the other things Rondal builds for superyachts like masts, booms, doors, hatches and so on without traveling around to all subcontractors.

Royal Huisman gave us insights in both companies. The carbon booms of Project 400 are currently under construction – massive parts with about 15 meters in length. Looked like a kayak for 20 people – and the yacht will have three of them. In the joinery, they showed us the interior of the yacht with an awesome detail. Royal Huisman documents all interiors with numbers to deliver spares very fast. The crew gives the number to the yard and they can produce a replacement without flying down to check what is needed, flying back etc.

Another big project is the refit of the 39m Schooner-rigged sailing yacht VAGRANT from 1913. The hull has been completely stripped off (including all the interiors) and looked like a new build project in the first stage. There is a lot of work for the yard to prepare the yacht for the next 100 years. But they have experience with classic yachts like the extensive refit of the J-Class sailing yacht Endeavour (JK4).

Day Four

Wajer Yachts

On the last day, Wajer Yachts picked us directly at the hotel with a Wajer 37 and Wajer 38 for a sightseeing tour through Amsterdam with all the beautiful old canal houses and houseboats, houseboats and even more houseboats. By the way, a Wajer 38 had also a role in the movie “The North” together with the Amels 180 KAMALAYA. – a must-see video for yachting and Norway fans.

The destination was Het Scheepvaartmuseum (Dutch national maritime museum) where we got a video and scale model presentation of the new wajer 55S.


With VBH (Van Berge Henegouwen), we discussed entertainment and communication technology on yachts (exactly my topic as a technology-driven guy) and potential problems with state-of-the-art technology upgrades on refit projects.

We got also a guided tour through the museum. Unfortunately, the time was too short to see all but our tour guide explained really good and picked the cool things for our short timeframe – ask for Anna-Maria, capable and pleasant.

Het Scheepvaartmuseum has a virtual reality room in the replica of the EAST INDIAMAN AMSTERDAM (the original was lost in 1749). The tour starts at the place where you are but it is a time journey back to the Dutch Golden Age ca. 1650 built with historic documents to get a view of how Amsterdam looked at this time. A really cool experience.


The Superyacht Press Tour is an awesome opinion for the relation between media and the Dutch superyacht industry. Furthermore, it was also great to meet other well-known journalists like Marilyn Mower of Boat International Media, Diane Byrne of and so on. It is like a preferment or to have a backstage ticket for a rock concert with exclusive insights and very much input. The Holland Yachting Group did a great organization. I am very thankful for the experience and the insights – I really enjoyed the trip and hope to get the chance next year again.

Baltic 67 Performance Cruiser

The Baltic 67 Performace Cruiser has been launched.

The yacht was designed by judel/vrolijk (exterior and naval architecture) with an interior design (no photos yet) by Design Unlimited.

The semi-custom sailing yacht has a standard hull and has some options for owners’ requirements on the deck, styling and general arrangement.

The yacht will be presented during the Cannes Yachting Festival 2018.

The Yx7 bribes with her very characteristic deckhouse that comes with a strong workboat optic and was developed for people who want to sail around the world including the Arctic.


Although the deckhouse conceals a clear view over the deck, it has other advantages: Guests can enjoy a 360-degree view from the seating area and the captain has an overview while sitting at the navigation desk. Natural light comes through a skylight in the middle (on both sides are solar panels) and the side windows that can be lowered. Also, the side windows of the cockpit can be lowered.

Wally 93 Sailing Yacht

Wally 93 (28m) NAHITA - the further stage of Wallycento (Launch Update)

Wally presents the new Wally 93 - a Judel/Vrolijk design for a repeat owner. The yacht is christened NAHITA and is the successor of the 24m Wally from 2009.

Wally 93 NAHITA is a carbon-fiber construction with a luxury interior to provide a fast and comfortable sailing yacht. The 28m yacht weighs just 35,5 tons thanks to the state-of-the-art materials that can be also found in the America’s Cup boats (high modulus unidirectional carbon fiber, and CNC female carbon fiber mold).

The Haute Couture comes with an upwind sail area of 503 m² and a downwind sail area of 1059 m². Her ultra-clean deck looks very great. The yacht has a draft of 6.2 meters but it can be reduced to 4.5 meters.

Wally 93 Sailing Yacht

Naval architect Rolf Vrolijk says:

“A Wally is the perfect syntheses between a high-performance cruising yacht and a competitive racer. This new design is streamlined for the Wally Class racing circuit, that is the most competitive racing in high-performance cruising yachts in the Mediterranean.

Very powerful upwind with the same draft as the Wallycento, the Wally 93 will be able to keep her lane after the start on the first upwind leg. The performance is optimized for the light to medium conditions: the yacht will have the ability to start surfing with 16 knots of wind, and easily capable of exceeding the true wind speed.”

The interior was created in-house by Wally and Sans Tabù – an Italian art and fashion brand from Milan. Owners area is located forward, two guest cabins are at the aft.

“The Wally 93 fully reflects the Wally DNA to combine exceptional cruising capabilities and outstanding performance” describes Luca Bassani, Wally founder, and president “Additionally, the deck is ultra-clean with huge living areas.  She is so beautiful to fall in love at first sight!”

The Wally 93 will make her debut at the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup 2018. The yacht was launched in April 2018.

Hoek Design developed a 76 feet (23,4m) ketch for a European owner.

This yacht is designed as a long-distance sailing yacht with focus on speed and easy sail handling. A Code 0, A-symmetric spinnakers and mizzen staysails can be added to the ketch-rig.

The yacht will have a centerboard keel to reduce the draft from 4.5m up to 2.5m to visit shallow water areas. According to the designer, it provides also more performance.

The characteristic deckhouse is the home of the dining and lounge area. Furthermore, there is also the galley to take part of yacht’s heart.

The owners’ cabin is located in the bow area, one guest cabin is placed amidships, two guest cabins are at the aft. One of the aft cabins can serve as a crew cabin. The bathroom of this cabin has a direct access to the engine room.

No interior renderings are sent but Hoek Design who also designed the interior describes the design as follows:

The interior is modern, using brushed white oak as wall cladding and dark oak floorboards underfoot.

Michael Schmidt Yachtbau presents the Y7 Tripp 70, designed by the American yacht designer Bill Tripp.

The Y7 Tripp 70 is a 22m lightweight sailing yacht made of carbon with a modern and clean design. Like many modern and fast sailing yachts, the Y7 has a wide stern, so the yacht will be equipped with a twin rudder. One disadvantage of twin rudders could be a bad maneuverability in marinas but a twin-engine configuration with two 75 hp Volvo Penta engines will compensate that and streams the rudder blades directly. One of the engines serves also as a generator but a further generator is also available as an option.

The yard has the principle

“Keep it simple”

that a family can sail the yacht by themselves or with a small crew. So the yacht has a self-tacking jib. The draft of the yacht with the fixed keel 3.30 meters. But you can order the yacht with a lifting keel to reduce the draft to 1.90 meters. In the sailing mode, the keel bomb hangs in 3.60 meters. There is also a performance keel with a lower center of gravity.


The Y7 Tripp 70 has a basic layout and four layout options. Owners’ cabin with en-suite bathroom is always in the forward area, crew cabin next to the tender garage at the aft. Dining and living area with coffee table amidships. The interior is made of lightweight materials with veneer.

The price starts at EUR 1.820.000, my personal configuration (who is interested, the list of chosen options is in the tab below) ends at EUR 2.317.270 (without VAT). When I am choosing all options without special requests, I came on a maximum price of EUR 2.599.630. Price list stand: November 2017.
