Currently under construction at the CRN shipyard in Ancona is a remarkable new creation, Project Thunderball (CRN M/Y 145), a bespoke 70-meter superyacht crafted from steel and aluminum.

Every aspect of its design, naval architecture, engineering, and construction is meticulously crafted. The project is a collaboration between CRN, Vripack, and Nauta Design, with Vripack responsible for the external lines and naval architecture and Nauta Design managing the interior design and outdoor furniture. Y.CO facilitated the sale in August 2022 and continues to play a crucial role as the owner’s representative and project management team. The yacht boasts classic and timeless lines that embody the owner’s vision and requirements for a luxurious vessel suitable for long and contemplative cruises. Its traditional elongated bow, low profile, and sleek lines resemble a sailboat, featuring curved bilges and a smooth surface. The comprehensive approach taken during the design process allowed the owner to have a deep understanding of the layouts, functions, and performances of the yacht, facilitating quick and thoughtful decision-making. Additionally, a smaller sailboat will accompany the mother yacht, catering to the owner’s passion for sailing. Project Thunderball will primarily cruise in the Mediterranean and between Florida and the Bahamas.

Project Thunderball, measuring 70 meters long with a beam of 11 meters and a gross tonnage of 1,100, encompasses five decks and can accommodate up to 12 guests and 15 crew members. Its interior design concept surpasses the boundaries of time and fashion, embodying a maritime culture and showcasing a meticulous blend of heritage and contemporary aesthetics. This design approach, viewed through a modern lens, reinterprets these elements to create a sophisticated and refined atmosphere. The yacht’s marine-inspired process and exceptional craftsmanship converge to establish a new benchmark in the yachting world. Furthermore, Project Thunderball exemplifies the CRN shipyard’s dedication to sustainability by incorporating a peak shaving system, which enhances energy efficiency and significantly reduces fuel consumption.
