Atalante Yacht Claasen Shipyards Hoek Design

Atalante // Claasen Shipyards (Truly Classic 127)

Let's take a focus on 38.80m classically styled sailing yacht Atalante by Dutch yacht builder Claasen Shipyards of the Truly Classic 127-series. Her elegant design comes from the boards of Hoek Design

Atalante Pictures by Cory Silken (interior) and Rick Tomlinson (exterior)

This Truly Classic was built for a repeat owner and is the successor of a Truly Classic 90, which sailed under the same name. The owner wanted more comfort, more space, and more speed. So the designer had a focus on performance. Under her classic dress is modern technology like carbon rudder, carbon mast with 3DI sails by North, a deep draught keel with thin foil.  Claasen delivered a sailing yacht to my taste :).

André Hoek comments:
“She represents unrivaled value for money, and the craftsmen at Claasen have excelled in terms of the execution of materials, joinery and finishing. The same goes for the technical aspects – the systems, the layout of the engine room, the hydraulics, the cabling. Atalante has been built to a truly impressive level of quality.

Interior

When we go the stairs down to the aft we will find the main saloon with a bar. Behind that is the full-beam owner’s suite that has also an own entrance and an own deck house on the aft deck. The owner enjoys being involved in sailing so he has a steering wheel at the owner’s cockpit and a navigation desk with two screens in the owner’s deck house.

When we are back at the main deck house and follow the stairs down but towards, we are in the guest area where is a VIP cabin on port side with sofa and a twin cabin on starboard side. Both with ensuite bathrooms. Furthermore ahead is the crew area with galley.

Back on Deck

Atalante features several practical social areas, suitable for alfresco lounging, dining or sunbathing with fantastic views. They are covered by Biminis but can be removed e. g. for racing.

The flush hatches on the foredeck are by Rondal. Atalante also features a boarding platform to port that folds out of the hull hydraulically and is equipped with side steps to facilitate easy boarding. The diesel-powered Williams tender can also be refueled here directly from the yacht via a hose reel.

The system can reduce the drag from 4,6 to 10,2 % on a single engine powered sailing yachts. That’s a great feature for performance-oriented yachts. The owner of Baltic’s WinWin – a 33m yacht – equipped his yacht with this system.

The demonstration of the system starts at timecode 01:30.

Jangada Yacht Van der Valk Shipyard

JANGADA // Van der Valk Shipyard

Wim van der Valk launched the new 25m all-aluminum Jangada - a very stunning yacht and my personal favorite in that size of motor yachts.

Jangada belongs to the new Continental Three series of Wim van der Valk and is the second unit. The exterior was designed by Guido de Groot who designed also the interior in cooperation with Belgian designer Nick Top appointed by the experienced owner.

Guido de Groot and Nick Top chose whitewashed English oak as a base for the interior design. They designed an open and light living space with great details like LED lights.

The owner resided in a full beam master suite with two walk-in wardrobes on the lower deck. There are also two guest cabins and a VIP suite. All cabins are equipped with ensuite bathrooms.

The crew quarter with two cabins, bathroom, crew mess and the galley is forward located on the main deck.

The aft deck is a shady spot for dining thanks to the extended flybridge, separated by wide glass sliding doors from the salon.

The flybridge has space for a 4.5m jet tender and a jet ski which can be lowered with a 600 kg crane. It features also a u-shaped dining area, wet bar with grill, sink, fridge, and ice-maker. A sunbathing area is in front of the wheelhouse.

Jangada is powered by three Volvo Penta diesel engines of the D13-900-series. Each one has 900 HP. This trio pushes her up to 23 knots. In addition to the Volvo Penta diesel engines, the yacht is equipped with the IPS pod-drive system to control her easily and safely with a joystick. Wim van der Valk offers the Continental Three range also with a conventional shaft propulsion.

Volvo Penta IPS in action

My personal experience with Wim van der Valk: I visited the half-sister ship “The next episode“. The yard upholstered the blades of the shutter with fine leather. Awesome craftsmanship in every detail! But this is only one thing to highlight. They do a great job!

The yacht got a successor: Jangada 2 – the main project stakeholders are in again.

Berlinetta Motor Yacht Design

Berlinetta // Columbus Yachts // Marco Casali - Too Design

Berlinetta is a motor yacht range from 32m up to 50m designed by Marco Casali and will be built by Columbus Yachts - the motor yacht brand of the Palumbo Group.

Marco Casali designed the range with sleek lines and strong character. He describes further, that he developed the Berlinetta range with a huge volume to maximize the space inside.

The Berlinetta concept has full beam saloons with full height windows which can be open to connect the saloon with nature. A large beach club area at the aft area connects people aboard directly with the sea. When you don’t need a beach club, you can use the space as a tender storage. Another tender storage is at the bow area. Columbus Yachts promises the largest interior and exterior spaces in this size of yachts.

Amel 64 Luxury Sailing Yacht

AMEL 64 - Bluewater Sailing Yacht

Profite de la vie: The Amel 64 is a 20m ketch-rigged luxury sailing yacht by the French yacht builder Amel, designed by Berret Racoupeau.

Personally, I like the exterior and interior design. I have visited the yacht for the first time at the boot Düsseldorf 2015 in Germany

As a sailing guy who loves to stand outside with a twin helm station: I missed that. As you can see in the pictures she has just one covered helm station. So she might be a sailing yacht respectively a motor-sailor for people who sail mostly long distances with auto pilot. That arrangement with central cockpit allows more space on the aft deck to relax there or to carry some water toys. One tender with 10/15 HP outboard engine finds his place in a stern garage which is equipped with an electric winch to launch and pull in the tender.

A light and friendly interior with exotic wood, stainless steel and leather welcome owners and guests onboard. The Amel 64 has an owner’s cabin at the bow and two guest cabins at the aft area. One is a double bed cabin, the other one is a single-bed cabin with two beds. Both are equipped with ensuite bathrooms.

In the middle is the main saloon, galley, dining and navigation desk located.

The price for that very comfortable world cruiser starts at EUR 2,100,000.

Eldoris Federico Fiorentino Yacht Design

ELDORIS // Federico Fiorentino Yacht Design

Italian yacht design studio Federico Fiorentino and the Italian yacht builder Eurocraft team up for the Eldoris project - a 43m full aluminum fast planning motor yacht with a top speed of 30 knots and a GRT of under 500.

Eldoris was developed on an already fully tested platform and reaches a cruising speed of 24 knots with 3648 hp MTU diesel engines with low noise and vibration levels. The concept will use the isolation standard of bigger yachts. Same point for the safety system: Sprinkler fire system, far more complex than what is required by the regulations (Lloyd’s/MCA).

Both the yard and the designer have the claim to make her an “over the top yacht” in the exclusive circle of fast super yachts.

The exterior is already engineered, but the owner has the opinion to create a custom interior decor. Eldoris will have space for 10 guests and a crew of 7.

Looks like a great concept for people who want a fast and stylish but spacious motor yacht with well-equipped sun deck: There is a sunbathing area, bar, and jacuzzi.

“Azamanta is the third yacht we have delivered this year after 50m Sibelle and 47m Asya. She is a wonderful example of what owners can achieve when they entrust Heesen to build their superyacht: solid Dutch design, engineering and naval architecture wrapped in unique individual design.”

Azamanta Yacht Heesen Yachts
