Bliss 2 Yacht

BLISS 2 // Cyrus Yachts // beiderbeck designs

Cyrus Yachts from Turkey (Partnership with Vitters Shipyards) launched the 80 feet (24 m) sailing yacht BLISS 2 (bd80) designed by beiderbeck designs from Bremen, Germany.

Photos by Dijana Nukic of Foto Fische

BLISS 2 had her first successful sea trials and satisfied the naval architects from beiderbeck designs, her suppliers, and people who were involved the project. BLISS 2 has a very elegant design which makes her light-flooded. An eye-catcher is a contrast between the metallic white-colored hull and her dark windows under her rail. The windows don’t just “look good,” they provide an all-around vision without a pilothouse.

Thanks to the lightweight construction of glass fiber and carbon fiber (including carbon rig), the yacht reacts promptly when the wind blows moderately in the 300 m² sail area.

Captain Henk van der Vaart comments:

“The ship is truly unique. There is probably no other with merit on details.”

Bliss 2 was listed for sale with an price of EUR 3,300,000.

Aquijo Yacht Vitters Oceanco Tripp Design

AQUIJO // Vitters // Oceanco

The 85m ketch-rigged high-performance sailing yacht AQUIJO is a collaboration between Dutch shipyards Vitters and Oceanco.

Vitters is well-known for large sailing yachts and Oceanco is a specialist for even bigger motor yachts. Her exterior design and naval architecture were delivered by Tripp Design, while her interior design was made by the Hamburg-based design office Dölker + Voges.

Although AQUIJO is very big for a sailing yacht, her profile looks sporty to emphasize her promise to be the world’s largest high-performance ketch with a two-deck superstructure (and a flybridge on top) for a lot of space inside and outside.

Sailors like me are fans of rudder feedback which is not really given on big yachts. Vitters developed a rudder system which translates the hydrodynamic forces to the steering wheels on the flybridge.

Her interior is clean, contemporary and modern. The forwarded mast has a height of 90m and is one of the tallest in the world.

Many wishes for a lot of fun and safety journeys to AQUIJO‘s owner and the crew.

YXT 20 Yacht Support Vessel

YXT 20 - Yacht Support Tender

The Lynx YXT 20 is a very small yacht support vessel aka Yacht-X-Tender

This support vessel features a deck space of 45 sqm to carry a choice of larger tenders and watersport toys for the main yacht. The boat has two cranes. One with a lifting capacity of 1.7 tons and a 360° slew on the main deck, the other one with a capacity of 0.5 tons that is also the gangway.

A crew of four in two single-bed cabins with bathrooms will be aboard to service the shadow boat and the tenders. The boat is equipped with a crew mess, galley, and laundry. The interior was designed by Franck Darnet.

YXT 20 is powered by two Cummins diesel engines with 715 HP each. The operating range is about 900 nautical miles.

The YXT range is available from 20 – 40 meters. The first unit of the 20m edition was launched in summer 2016.

Slim Bouricha – Lynx Yachts President – comments:

“The main reason for owning a shadow vessel is really to unleash the potential of the main yacht and enhance considerably the yachting experience. Owners and charterers are more and more demanding and there are so many new desired toys and tenders every year. Once we reach a certain size, it does not make sense to upsize anymore and give out prime real estate space. The YXTconcept will deliver more than the bigger yacht can, at a starting price just below 2M€. As for the operating expenses, a YXT will be revealed to be considerably less expensive as well. The variations are endless, whether we are carrying nautical tenders or cars, buggies or motorcycles … even extra accommodation. We have also received many inquiries from people who want to use the YXT as their main yacht, and our team is very busy on the drawing board to develop the perfect YXT for each one of these potential owners. Our YXT series has been designed so that it is a platform with enough flexibility to respond to a large range or requirements”

Dahm 120 by beiderbeck designs - a 36m Accessibly Sailing Yacht

German collaboration: beiderbeck designs and dahm international presented the Dahm 120 at the boot 2016 to the international press.

An eye-catching feature of the Dahm 120 the deck layout. The cockpit is in the middle of the yacht, where the crew can work separated without “disturbing” the guests at the stern area. The guests can enjoy in a deck salon, dining and a beach club. There is also a shower to clean from salt water and a day toilet.

The crew can serve welcome drinks to the 10 guests (including owners) from the mini bar or food from the barbecue which is also at the stern.

Two 3,40m tenders are stored on the foredeck. Another great feature of the Dahm 120 is the opinion to have access with a wheelchair. An optional lift connects deck and the cabin deck midships.

The Dahm 120 will be built at Nedship in Turkey.

Furthermore, the highlight under the deck is the cinema (for a sailing yacht under 40 meters) with round couches and the big deck salon with a lot of natural light.

Jongert 3200P

Jongert 3200P

The new Jongert 3200P (P = Performance Line) is under construction

The Performance Line is the further development of Jongert’s Modern Line to compete in regattas but also to sail around the world with a more sporty looking exterior design. Thanks to lifting keel with a minimum draft of four meters, it’s also possible to visit shallow waters. The foredeck tender storage is also a pool when the tender is in the water.

The Jongert 3200 measures 32 meters in length and presents the first unit of a range of yachts with lengths of 28, 32, 36, and the 40m flagship.

The performance calculations were done by Doug Peterson while the exterior and interior styling were made by Rhoades Young. Both are well-known yacht designers.

Interior Design

The interior of the Jongert 3200P has a “New York apartment-feel” with textured woods, leather paneling, and soft furnishings. The owner lives in a full-beam suite at the aft with direct access to the sea with a private beach deck. The deckhouse features dining, seating, navigation desk, and a 180-degree view.

The designer comments:

“Rhoades Young Design are delighted to be working with the prestigious Jongert shipyard on the launch of their impressive new range of performance sailing yachts. A highlight of the design is a large amount of glass area which increases the interaction between the inside and outside of the yacht, exemplified by the full-beam Owners Suite which opens onto the large aft beach deck via large glass doors.

An assortment of exterior seating locations also enables a variety of experiences to be enjoyed whilst onboard, be it dining in the main cockpit, navigating from the helm stations, or relaxing on the aft beach deck, yachts of the Jongert Performance line provides for every occasion.”

Blue Sapphire Ferrari Franchi Design

BLUE SAPPHIRE // Ferrari Franchi Design

The Italian yacht design duo Marco Ferrari and Alberto Franchi (Ferrari Franchi Design) unveiled the new 52m sailing yacht concept BLUE SAPPHIRE with hybrid propulsion.

Blue Sapphire is a very modern designed performance cruiser with racing genes. Personally, I like those ones who are modern, fast and equipped with state of the art technology. Additionally, this design is eye candy for me.

The yacht features a jacuzzi with a waterfall at the stern. The stern flap transforms into a beach club. The 6.00 m main tender is stored in a garage on the foredeck. The garage can also be used as a second cockpit. Another garage is at the stern with a 4.5 m crew tender and a collection of water toys.

The deck house has large windows and a skylight to maximize the daylight in the interior. Blue Sapphire accommodates 10 guests in four double cabins. The cabins can be transformed into a gym or a 42 m² owner’s suite with two skylights.

A crew of 8 has their area with five cabins, crew mess, laundry, and galley. Thanks to the hybrid propulsion, this yacht has more comfort than a traditional diesel engine is greener.

Acquaintance Yacht Oceanco Vitruvius

ACQUAINTANCE is the collaboration result of Vitruvius Yachts (a brand by Philippe Briand) and Dutch luxury yacht builder OCEANCO.

ACQUAINTANCE is designed as a Passenger Yacht Code (PYC) motor yacht and will carry up to 24 guests. She should burn 20 percent less fuel than other vessels in her size.

She features a swimming pool on the main deck, the salon is showered in light and yields a 270-degree panoramic view. On most yachts, the guest cabins are on the lower deck. ACQUAINTANCE has 10 guest cabins forward on the main deck. So the guests can benefit from large windows and view over the sea.

The owner’s area is located above the bridge deck. The private terrace has no external access. So the owners have a lot of privacy. From the aft-facing bedroom suite, there is a 180- degree panoramic view and forward is an observation lounge with much the same vantage point but facing the opposite direction. The top sundeck —accessible via the owner’s deck —has a sun-protected bar and whirlpool aft.

The lowest guest deck onboard features a beach club, cinema, gym and spa at sea level and sports a skylight from which one can view the underside of the swimming pool overhead on the main deck. A garage supports a limo tender up to 12-meters in length as well as a myriad of other water-sports toys. Embarking and disembarking takes place amidships. When the beach club door is closed there is no exterior access to the yacht, thus ensuring 100 percent security.

Wally Power 118

Wally Power 118

Back to the Future: The 2008-built Wally Power 118 is a stunning yacht from another world. She also seems to be a military stealth ship.

She seems to be an import by Marty McFly and Doc Brown, but Luca Bassani designed this beast. No one else than the head behind Wally in cooperation with Lazzarini Pickering Architects and naval architecture by the Italian Intermarine shipyard. They created the Wally Power 118 with no visible radar, antennas, anchor system, or any bits.

Three Vericor gas turbines power the distinctive yacht with a total power of 16.800 hp. The vessel has a fuel consumption of 58l per nautic mile at 60 knots. Three Rolls Royce Kemewa water jets bring the power to the water.

Her bright and spacious interior makes the sports yacht very comfortable with accommodation for 12 persons — six guests and six crew. The boat also plays a minor part in the movie “The Island”.

The Wally Power 118 has a clean and light interior style

34m Feadship Yacht

Feadship launches 34m Motor Yacht

"Small" but mighty - a very untypically sized Feadship of 34m for many years.

The in-house design team De Voogt Naval Architects gave her an exterior with an amount of glass. Also a modern and stylish vertical bow design and a big covered area on the sun deck.

The 34m is a great Idea for people who want to benefit from Feadship’s experience and Quality but don’t want to own a bigger yacht. There are also two other 34m yachts in the queue. All designed as commercial yachts (LY3).

The owner has his stateroom on the main deck. On the lower deck are suites for eight guests. There are double and twin cabins available. The twin cabins can be converted into a VIP cabin. The interior was styled by Bannenberg & Rowell.

34m Feadship Yacht

“Three years ago, the owner of a pure custom Feadship asked us to build a smaller yacht to Feadship standards. It needed to have a length and draught that would allow access to new markets where mooring facilities are restricted and facilitate cruising in shallower depths. We don’t like saying no to clients at Feadship so we decided to explore whether it was even practical to design and construct a 34-meter cruiser to Feadship quality within the boundaries of this compact size.”

34m Feadship Yacht

“Our research established that, while building such a custom yacht was indeed possible, it would only be economically viable for the client if we built three of them to the same design template. Turning normal market dynamics on their head, we, therefore, agreed to our client’s proposal as long as he could introduce two more clients who would like to order one of these unique Feadships while, of course, having flexibility in terms of the interior.”

Madame GU Yacht Feadship

Madame GU // Feadship

Luxury yacht builder Feadship of custom motor yachts, has launched the largest Feadship to date: "Madame GU".

The 99-metre masterpiece was created by the Feadship yard in Makkum and is also the largest superyacht ever built in the Netherlands. Sleek and quick, and with exquisite exterior detailing, she is a well-honed masterpiece bound to turn heads in the marinas of the world.

More than four years in the making, Madame GU left the building hall today. She is an elegant and striking tribute to her visionary owner, the talented design team of Andrew Winch and the hundreds of Feadship staff who built her.

Madame GU Yacht Feadship
Madame GU Yacht Feadship

As is usually the case with Feadship, confidentiality is a given but is no secret that Feadship’s advanced hull construction system, fine-tuned over many decades, has enabled its craftsmen to construct a slender lightweight vessel that, despite her 99-metre length, can attain a speed well over 24 knots. Capitalizing on Feadship’s engineering experience on motor yachts Predator and Tango, she is capable of such speeds thanks to her highly efficient hull form and quadruple engines driving controllable pitch propellers swift and efficiently.

The experience of a different kind underpinned some of the other special requests for this latest member of the Feadship fleet. Leveraging on the expertise accrued on 81-metre Air, launched in 2011, and the fully enclosed helicopter hangar which was developed for 86-metre Ecstasea from 2004, Madame GU is the second Feadship to feature such a certified helicopter storage system.

Vanish Yacht Feadship

Vanish // Feadship

Feadship launched the 66m Vanish with an exterior design by Eidsgaard Design and the Feadship in-house naval architects De Voogt.

Vanish is one of the great yacht projects where the owners are very closely involved to create a personal real dream. Feadship Royal Van Lent CEO Jan-Bart Verkuyl comments:

“It is very unusual for all the people from the myriad disciplines involved in a superyacht build to actually get to see how everything came together in the end. Vanish is a showcase example of a holistic superyacht, and it is wonderful that everyone involved can experience the fruits of their collective labor in this way.”

Personally, I like her exterior very much. She looks powerful and elegant. Thanks @ Eidsgaard Design for this eye candy.

One of the highlights must be the full-height atrium with free-standing staircase. The owner has a full-beam suite with an extendible balcony.

Guests can relax at the beach club on the lower deck, in the spa with sauna or on the sun deck with gym and a 6-person jacuzzi or watch movies at the outdoor cinema. Two touch-and-go helipads are available for fast transport.

Amore Mio Yacht Heesen

AMORE MIO // Heesen Yachts

Project Necto by Heesen is now M/Y Amore Mio and is ready to hit the water of the North Sea for the sea trials.

Amore Mio pictures by Dick Holthuis

Amore Mio was designed for loving speed – the naval engineers at Heesen gave her a top speed of 30 knots. The sporty and elegant exterior look came from the pens of Omega Architects. The third design party is Cristiano Gatto and his design team.

Amore Mio Yacht Heesen
Amore Mio Yacht Heesen

Heesen constructed her semi-displacement hull in full aluminum and equipped her with two MTU 16V diesel engines, gyro stabilizers, and active interceptors to name some key features of Amore Mio.

“The motto is simple: power with comfort.”

Amore Mio Yacht Heesen

The sun deck features a flybridge the typically high-end yacht “standard” like a dining, lounge area with armchairs and a special for the chef: Teppanyaki – a style of the Japanese cuisine.

The build captain developed the Man Overboard (MOB) Rapid Reaction System. If someone noticed a man overboard, the person can push one of the multiple buttons placed around the yacht to open the hatches, dropping life rings in the water, to trigger the alarm on the bridge and crew areas and to record the position in the card plotter.

The tender garage will house a 5.90m mahogany tender by Swiss boat builder Boesch.

NINA - the new 38m motor yacht project by Heesen and Hot Lab Yacht Design will be a full aluminum semi-displacement yacht with a top speed of 22 knots.

Hot Lab from Milan designed with NINA a sporty and elegant luxury motor yacht. Inside and Outside. On top is a flybridge with bimini top, a grill, bar and dining area. There is also space for tender and watersports equipment. At the bow is a sunbathing area in front of the covered bridge. That provides privacy in ports.

The interior of the main saloon is light and has a beautiful wooden floor in the delivered renderings. It makes it very nearly perfect for me.

Halo Yacht Feadship

HALO // Feadship

The in August 2015 launched 57m custom built motor yacht "Halo" designed by Eidsgaard Design in cooperation with Feadship's in-house design team De Voogt Naval Architects and the owner of "Halo". Interior design was created by Bernardi + Peschard.

Halo needed a short building time of 33 months and passed the sea trials well. Highlights are a fully integrated Apple TV platform and a very large sundeck with an innovative carbon fiber sun awning construction. It can be electrically retractable.

The interior by Bernardi + Peschard is the first superyacht project for the design studio from Mexico. Currently no interior pictures. Feadship describes the interior:

“It features light oak, dark woods and lots of bronze inlays in a surprisingly modern style.”

The owner’s suite is located on the main deck together with the main guest cabins. Thanks to large windows the cabins offering a panoramic view. One VIP suite is located on the bridge deck with the same characteristics like the owner’s suite (same degree and finish).

Halo features a helipad and an enclosed mooring deck forward. The tender storage for two 8m tenders is at the aft area on port and starboard. The beach club opens by folding down the transom. The diving area offers 28 bottles to spend much time under the water.

The yacht is designed for world cruising thanks to a range of 5,000 nautical miles and a cruising speed of 16 knots. Halo offers a crew accommodation of six double crew cabins plus captains cabin for a total crew space for 14 people. They are located on the lower deck.

Guests can spend her time on the large sundeck that features a custom jacuzzi. It can be covered by an innovative carbon fiber sun awning built into the canopy that slides out electrically.

Feadship director Dick van Lent told the owner during the launch ceremony:

“We were delighted to respond to your request after you enjoyed the Feadship experience during a charter trip onboard Helix.

After you had felt for yourself the perfect craftsmanship, fine detailing and unrivaled comfort at sea that a Feadship offers, you challenged us to build an extraordinary custom superyacht of your own. This short timeframe required an extensive amount of 3D modeling during the engineering design process and leveraged on the enormous organizational experience of the craftsmen at Feadship. Thanks to the close cooperation with the exterior and interior designers, Halo is a remarkable achievement in every respect.”

Peder Eidsgaard explains the design:

“From a quarter front view, the signature silver arches appear to run up, over and down the aft end of the yacht. As Halo drives past, however, observers will notice that the aft tip of the arch is actually turning upwards. This creates a subtle playful tail, which is an important part of the yacht’s character.”

For some parts of the exterior Feadship uses the first-time deployment of “a warm gray Awlgrip Mocca livery”.

The yacht has two MTU 12V4000M63 1500 kW @ 1800 rpm. That duo delivers a cruising speed of 16 knots with an operating range of 5000 nautical miles for the world cruiser.

Wishing the owner a lot of fun with this very cool design.

Damen SeaXplorer

Amels / Damen SeaXplorer (Expedition Yacht 55 - 100m)

Damen (the mother company of Amels) presents a concept of a massive designed expedition ice class yacht called SeaXplorer - A luxury SUV for the seven seas.

Damen is normally the part of commercial ships, the Yacht Support Vessels and the mother company of AMELS. Now they unveiled this explorer yacht with an impressive vertical bow. The yacht concepts are available in the sizes of 55m, 65m, 77m (LA DATCHA), 90m and 100m. All versions can carry helicopter(s), submarine(s) and various tenders.

Damen SeaXplorer features an ice breaker hull

The yacht range has ice-class up to class 6 to break 90 cm first-year ice. The yacht uses its stern to break the ice to keep comfort and performance at a maximum.

Damen SeaXplorer

Rob Lujiendijk – CEO of AMELS says

“A number of experienced yachting clients approached us about adapting DAMEN’s professional vessels, so we knew from them that there were simply no globally capable luxury explorer yachts out there. And that’s also what we heard from EYOS Expeditions who have decades of experience in bespoke luxury expeditions to the wildest places on the planet. So that’s why DAMEN began developing the SeaXplorer. The result is well beyond a pretty rendering. It’s a fully developed range – something only DAMEN could do.”

Although SeaXplorer looks heavy, massive and bold, inside will be the pure luxury for journeys with maximum comfort.

55m SeaXplorer

Update September 27, 2017: Damen presents plans for a 55m version.

“With a SeaXplorer 75 and a SeaXplorer 65 from our range already sold and now under construction, this new design benefits from our dedicated SeaXplorer team’s experience and the input from our clients and partners. The SeaXplorer 55 will be at home just as much in the South of France as it is in South Georgia Island.”

Product Director Mark Vermeulen:

“The SeaXplorer 55 is a luxury yacht with real go-anywhere, do-anything expedition pedigree. It has the seakeeping performance and Ice Class capability, but we also offer lots of options for our clients – from full fairing and custom interiors to tailor-made configurations for their expedition equipment.”

Update August 15, 2017: Damen announced the sale of a 77m version with a hangar for two helicopters protected from the elements.

“Together with his guests, our client plans to visit some of the most beautiful and remote areas of the world,” comments Commercial Director Rose Damen. “They will be skiing and snowboarding on pristine slopes like Kamchatka and submersible diving and sports fishing in Papua New Guinea and the Galápagos Islands. They will be in places with no supporting infrastructure, no roads and no heliports within range. So we designed the SeaXplorer 77 to carry out such complex operations with the highest level of safety, redundancy and autonomy.”

“Our designs in the SeaXplorer range are a great starting point to quickly create customized yachts for specific Owner requirements,” comments Mark Vermeulen, DAMEN Product Director. “The SeaXplorer 77 shares the range’s core attributes: compliance with the IMO Polar Code, the long periods of autonomy at sea, and the crossover of superyacht luxury with professional capability.”
