Heesen Yachts launched ERICA (ex Project BOREAS)

Like many other Heesen yachts, also ERICA began as an on-spec project and found an experienced sailing yacht owner who was impressed by the sea stability of the Fast Displacement Hull Form by Van Oossanen and influenced the pre-engineered yacht with his personal experience. The exterior design is almost known because it is based on the Nova Plus platform with the exterior signature by Omega Architects.

Mark Whiteley is responsible for the “contemporary, welcoming and inviting interior” design. Talking of the interior, that welcomes 12 guests in total, separated in five guest cabins on the lower deck and the master suite on the main deck. A crew of nine persons serves yacht and guests.

The yacht appears in an unusual yachting color: Mercedes Mountain Grey with a two-stage clear coat by Awlgrip to match the color of the owner’s car. I know metallic colors are difficult on yachts but according to the yard, it took 10 months for the perfect finish. I haven’t seen the yacht yet but it looks great on the pictures and the yacht will be an eye-catcher and it seems a great painting work by the crew of Finishing Deluxe.

The full-aluminum yacht is powered by two MTU V12 engines (12V 2000 M72). The engines power her up to 19.5 knots but can also sail with economical fuel consumption of circa 98 liters per hour. At 12 knots, she has a range of 3,750 nautical miles.

ERICA starts sea trials soon and will be delivered on August 2019.
