German shipyard Y Yachts unveiled the new Y9 - a 90 feet/27m sailing yacht
Check the launched yacht Y9/Tripp 90 here.
The new Y9 is based on proven partners like Tripp Design (exterior and naval architecture) and Norm Architects (interior). They created the awesome sailing yacht model Y7. There is also another interior design studio involved that worked with Y Yachts in projects like the Yx7 or the research vessel Eugen Seibold – The UK-based studio Design Unlimited.
As the other yacht models, also the Y9 is made of carbon-fiber to enjoy fast cruising or start with excellent opportunities to win some international regattas.
Y Yachts founder Michael Schmidt explains why to be under 100 feet:
“Actually, customers were interested in 100 feet in length. However, from this size upwards – in my experience – yachts become disproportionately expensive because many custom-built components have to be installed. With our expertise, we have therefore implemented the comfort of a 100-foot yacht on a length of 90 feet. With our new Y9, we are entering the superyacht segment.”
Interior design by Norm Architects and Design Unlimited
The owner’s cabin in the stern area is more an apartment that contains a private salon, a bathroom with a double sink, a dressing room, and a separate shower. The project stakeholders also have an eye on an extra-large crew area with storage and a crew lounge. Owners can choose between two different interior layouts that are based on this interior concept.
The design studios created a “soft-minimalism” Scandinavian style with oiled oak and grey fabrics.
Katrine Goldstein, Managing Director of Norm Architects comments:
“The Y9 already follows the award-winning Y7 in its design, but is much more complex and goes deeper. The Y9 will also be a luxurious retreat to get away from the constant stimulation that our everyday lives bring. Mark Tucker, founder of Design Unlimited adds: “Clients will appreciate the authenticity of our design and the sustainable materials we recommend. People are increasingly orienting themselves towards nature: taking from nature and giving back to nature. This principle is particularly pervasive in the luxury market.”
