John Staluppi - a well-known name in the yachting industry. Not as a designer, not as a shipyard but as a very experienced yacht owner. He is known for high-speed and very luxurious yachts as well and yachts named after James Bond movies (in this case: Spectre aka FB269).

I have never worked with him or met him, but he is one of my favorite yacht owners because he had exciting projects like The World is not Enough, Octopussy, Project Skyfall, Diamonds are Forever et cetera. Now after 750,000 working hours comes M/Y SPECTRE to the world.

The exterior design of SPECTURE comes from Giorgio M. Cassetta, while the Benetti shipyard designed the interior with the in-house team. Mulder Design calculated the naval architecture.

Two MTU engines (2,580 kW each at 2,100 rpm) power the yacht up to 21,2 knots. At the economical speed of 12 knots, the vessel has an operating range of 6,500 nautical miles.

Benetti installed the Naiad Dynamics Total Ride Control® – a stabilizer system usually found on military and commercial vessels.

Interior of Motor Yacht SPECTRE

Bridge Deck

Alongside the wheelhouse, the bridge deck contains the captain’s cabin with direct access to the working place. Outside is informal al-fresco dining for up to twelve persons with buffet cabinet, BBQ and pizza oven. Furthermore, there is a modular lounge area with a bar and a custom-designed pool.

Upper Deck

The owners’ suite forward with a 180-degree view over the ocean features a private study, two separate bathrooms, and two walk-in closets. The suite has direct access to the foredeck with a pool and lounge area. The upper deck salon contains an L-shaped sofa, a table for up to eight persons, a bar and a grand piano. Outside is a four-meter dining table with two buffet cabinets — moreover, a lounge area at the end of the deck. A pantry on the deck saves ways from the main galley.

Main Deck

The main deck has a full-beam VIP suite with two bathrooms and two walk-in closets forward and two double guest cabins. When guests enter the yacht via the side boarding ladder, the main lobby welcomes the guests. The main salon has a formal dining area and a big lounge area. Outside is a bar with fridge and ice maker and a lounge area.

Lower Deck

SPECTRE has a fixed bathing platform. Instead of a hatch, the yacht has a glass sliding door to open the beach club. The tender garage houses tender up to 9 meters, a RIB and two jet skis. Another tender is under a hatch at the foredeck.

The lower deck also contains a spa, hammam, and the gym. The gym has a fold-out terrace and transforms into a further cabin if needed. There is also another double bed guest cabin and a twin-bed cabin alongside the crew area for 14 people with the galley, storage, and the crew mess.

Vincenzo Poerio – Benetti CEO comments:

“We are delighted of John coming back, especially with such a request, we can define as a very exciting “new challenge”. This relationship – with a so faithful client give us a responsibility even heavier than our usual. We are sure to meet once again with his desires. By the way is an unrivaled signal of Benetti’s great commercial success – based on customer listening in addition to our working teams unmatchable capabilities to realize any kind of Owners’ request”.

John and Jeanette Staluppi say:

“We are very happy to be building our new yacht with the Benetti team as my wife, Jeanette and I were extremely pleased with “Diamonds are Forever”. The new venture will be of a much higher standard with new modern day high tech systems, and once again working with Frank and Bas Mulder. With the combination of expertise between Benetti, Mulder and our design team, we believe this will be our greatest project.”
