Konrad Bergström's boat brand presents the full-electric boat X Shore Eelex 8000.

Electric propulsion becomes more and more a trend in the yachting industry. Even as hybrid solution (generators and battery packs) for superyachts or full-electric boats. But it is essential if you wish to drive in restricted areas where electric propulsion is allowed only or if you like to reduce your carbon footprint. Furthermore, it is also a low noise tender ride and a boat with less maintenance.

The X-Shore Eelex 8000 has a top speed of 40 knots with a 220 kW Torqeedo engine connected to a Volvo Dual Prop sterndrive. The cruising speed is 24 knots. At lower rates, the range is 100 nautical miles and needs 8 hours to recharge, respectively, one hour at a supercharger.

The deck is made of cork instead of teak. I like the material and got in touch with this on the daysailer Flax 27. Moreover, there are cork applications like the throttle control.

The founder of X-Shore is the entrepreneur Konrad Bergström who founded headphone and speaker manufacturer Zound Industries. For X Shore, Bergström raised a crowdfunding campaign with a capital of 1.5 million euros with 422 investors.

The boat got the German Design Award 2020 in the category Excellent Product Design Aviation, Maritime and Railway.

The price of the X Shore Eelex 8000 is €199,000.
