Rosetti 48 Support Vessel

Alongside the 85m supply vessel presented in 2017, Rosetti Superyachts comes up with 48m version.

Like the other yacht concepts, also the RSY 48 comes has been designed by Tommaso Spadolini. This supply vessel can also be built with an ice-class hull.

“Incorporating the philosophy of our 85m Supply Vessel into a 48m yacht of less than 500 GT was quite a challenge. It meant optimizing the interior and exterior layout to ensure efficient use of space, while maintaining independent circulation flows for guests and crew. At the same time, we were able to offer custom options to suit the lifestyles of different owners and enhance the yacht’s flexibility.”

The aft deck has a length of 18m and serves as a touch-and-go helipad, party deck or storage for a number of tenders and toys. Also, an infinity swimming pool is possible.

The owner has the choice to have the stateroom on the upper deck with a private aft deck or a sky lounge with al-fresco on this place. If the owner chooses a sky lounge, a full-beam suite on the main deck with walk-in wardrobe, bathroom, and a study is the alternative. Eight guests can find their sleeping places on the lower deck in four cabins. All cabins are equipped with en-suite bathrooms.

Two MTU 12V 2000 M72 (1080 kW @ 2250 rpm) or two Caterpillar C32 970 (KW 2100 rpm – B RATING) power the yacht up to 16 knots maximum speed and offer a cruising speed of 14 knots.

Italian design studio Federico Fiorentino presents the Eurocraft 46m.

The Eurocraft 46m is available with an optional ice-class feature to travel also in colder areas of our world. She will be powered by a state-of-the-art hybrid propulsion system with the typical advantages of fuel saving, more comfort etc.

The yacht offers space for two tenders up to 10m on the aft deck under the spacious open-air area on the bridge deck that is also a helicopter landing area.

Furthermore, there are three kinds of propulsion. First, power only by the two main engines, Second, the electric mode (generator plus electric engines) for speed up to 12 knots and low-noise and low vibrations for more comfort. The third one is the boost mode (main engines + generators and electric engines) to power up to over 18 knots.

The bow design isn’t just an eye-catcher, it is a very seaworthy and economical design. Instead of scooping the waves, the design breaks and throw the waves aside.

In addition to many other high-tech features, SEA HAWK has a remote monitoring system to keep an eye on the engines and machinery. Damen is normally the part of commercial ships, the Yacht Support Vessels and the mother company of AMELS. Now they unveiled this explorer yacht with an impressive vertical bow. The yacht concepts are available in the sizes of 55m, 65m, 75m, 90m and 100m. All versions can carry helicopter(s), submarine(s) and various tenders.

Ice Breaker Hull

Update August 15, 2017: Damen announced the sale of a 75m version with a hangar for two helicopters protected from the elements.

“Together with his guests, our client plans to visit some of the most beautiful and remote areas of the world,” comments Commercial Director Rose Damen. “They will be skiing and snowboarding on pristine slopes like Kamchatka and submersible diving and sports fishing in Papua New Guinea and the Galápagos Islands. AZAMANTA has been delivered

Heesen delivered the 55m motor yacht Azamanta to her owners and exceeded the contractual maximum speed by 0.4 knots.

Azamanta has van Oossanen’s Fast Displacement Hull Form (FDHF) engineered together with Heesen’s in-house naval architecture team for efficiency, comfort, and speed. Her exterior lines come from Omega Architects.

The ice-reinforced yacht was made to travel around with 600 tons of comfort, luxury and interior design by Sinot Exclusive Yacht Design. She is powered by 2 x 1380 kW MTU diesel engines that power her up to 16.9 knots and a possible range of 4,500 nautical miles

The owner’s area includes a private 70 sqm terrace in front of the bridge with sofas and dining area up to six guests to relax in privacy even when the is docked with the stern in the port. Under the terrace is the tender storage with gull-wing doors. This solution enables a beach club at the aft area.

The owner’s passion for Metropolitan style Art Déco and his love for flora and fauna motifs reflects the interior.

The five guest cabins with ensuites are located on the lower deck with full beam VIP suite. Each cabin is decorated with a unique mosaic wall.

Van Geest presents 40m Ocean Nomad

Amsterdam-based yacht design studio van Geest unveiled their latest project: Ocean Nomad an ice-class yacht.

Ocean Nomad was designed for an experienced client who wants to travel around the world. The yacht features a touch-and-go helipad on the aft deck, a sky deck with seating area, jacuzzi, sun bathing area, BBQ, and dining. Also a large storage for bicycles and other sports equipment.

The full beam master suite is located on the main deck. She has large windows to the sea side to enjoy the outdoor’s world inside. Also, the dining area and lounge have full height windows and sliding doors to make this area more a part of the outside.

At the aft deck is the tender bay for a big 10m tender. But an overhead crane is also available to handle the water sports equipment.

Alongside the Palladium concept, Rossinavi presents also the 44m Poseidon ice-class explorer yacht.

The 44m aluminum four-deck expedition motor yacht Poseidon was designed by ENRICO GOBBI – TEAM FOR DESIGN from Venice. The intent was to create a robust and comfortable world explorer. The designer described the style as “military and luxury”. Speaking of world cruising, the yacht has a range of 10,000 nautical miles.

Comments by Federico Rosse, COO of Rossinavi:

“Poseidon is designed as a ‘go-anywhere exploration yacht’ and the construction in Ice Class 1B permits this yacht to navigate in areas where it’s likely to encounter floating ice. The main impact of this ice class is the reinforced ‘ice belt’ around the hull able to resist impact loads even greater than 55 tonnes per square meter. The entire yacht project contains all aspects of this specific regulation under the technical point of view, emphasizing the right relevance to specific needs in navigation systems, comforts and  living spaces.”

Poseidon‘s main deck cockpit has a large dining table for all the yacht’s guests and a sitting area with sun pads adjacent the pool. Another sun area is located on the sun deck, with sun beds, lounge sofas and a fully equipped exterior bar. The external decks of Poseidon have plenty of space for enjoying the outside thanks to the various configurations of sitting, lounge, dining and sun areas, and the Master has his own private exterior lounge area on the upper deck.

The glass pool located aft has a diamond-cut bottom edge just above the yacht name showing through the water; a detail that guarantees a “wow” effect when the stern platform is open in the “beach” configuration.
The naval architecture and marine engineering of this explorer yacht were developed by Arrabito Naval Architects, who have studied particularly efficient hull lines able to run in low consumption long range but also to reach higher top speeds than a usual full displacement explorer vessel.
With the standard engines option (C32 Acert Caterpillar 2x 1300 bhp) this vessel will reach a top speed of about 17 knots, while with the optional propulsive solution of MTU 16v2000M94 (2 x 1936 kW) the top speed will be about 20 knots (cruise speed of 17 knots).

The hull, the decks and superstructure will be totally built in Marine Grade Aluminium, the idea is that both hull and superstructure could be light gray color recalling a Marine vessel.
The structural calculation will be aided with finite element methods (F.E.M.) to guarantee the lightest and stiffest explorer vessel in its own category.

About ICE Class Yachts

Some technical facts relevant to the assignment of an “ICE CLASS IB” to a pleasure vessel.

The notation ICE CLASS IB stands for vessels capable to sail in a channel kept open by an Ice-breaker, with ice having 0.6 m thickness max.
The notation involves interventions at the level of:

  • Hull scantlings and strength;
  • Machinery, rudders, propellers and shafting;
  • Stability;
  • De-icing and anti-freezing.

HULL SCANTLING AND STRENGTH

Provided that the Design Water Lines with fully laden and lightship conditions are calculated, an “ICE-BELT” is established having a height starting 0,4 m above the fully laden condition WL extending down for 0.6 m below the lightship WL.
For instance, if the draft difference between the two said load conditions is 0.3 m, then the total height of the ICE-BELT will be 0.6+0.3+0.4 = 1.3 m.
The length of the vessel is divided into three regions, fore, mid-ship and aft and the scantlings will decrease moving from the bow, fore region, to the aft one.
The increased scantlings will interest the ICE-BELT as above, and will involve:
The plates thickness which, besides an increased value due to the ice pressure, will have an “abrasion addition” (minimum 2 mm) to withstand the ice “fretting corrosion”;
The stiffeners sectional modulus and spacing (maximum 0.45 m for ICE CLASS IB).
Finally, attention will be drawn on the metallic materials choice, which will have to be capable to withstand low temperatures.

MACHINERY – RUDDERS – PROPELLERS – SHAFTING

The minimum allowed power on an ICE CLASS IB vessel will be 1000 kW (1360 SHP). The rudders thicknesses and scantlings will have to follow the ones applied to the hull. The rudder stocks and the propeller shafts will be calculated with scantlings higher (basically 1.3 times) than the standard ones.
The propellers will have increased scantlings and material/stiffness-wise will have to be calculated to withstand the hit with a 1.5 m thick ice block.

STABILITY

The intact and damaged Stability Information Booklet (SIB) will have to prove that the vessel maintains a stability as per Rules also with ice on all the exposed external decks with a rate of 140 kg/m2 (ice thickness 14 cm).

WINTERIZATION

All the sea water chests (Main Engines and Generators refrigeration, fire pumps, watermaker, etc.) must be provided with anti-freezing systems.
To avoid the ice addiction on decks over the limit as above, de-icing heating systems 200-300 W/m2 must be provided.
Further provisions must be taken in order to avoid that vital system such as the anchoring one is put out of duty because of the ice presence.

RMK 5000: Modern Explorer Yacht by RMK and Hot Lab

RMK Marine and Hot Lab Yacht & Design unveiled the RMK 5000 Explorer yacht complete concept.

RMK 5000 project shows two primary variations the True Luxury Explorer and the Leisure, both of which have a great deal of flexibility to suit the individual client requirements and the tastes of the current market.

Designed with modern lines and soft curves there is smooth uncluttered look and feel to the design. The full displacement hulls on both designs provide long range cruising with thanks to the diesel/electric propulsion package under 500 GT thresholds. Both projects accommodate up to 10 guests plus owner and 8 crew plus the Captain.

On the True Luxury Explorer concept, there is a vast aft deck specifically designed to accommodate a tender of up to 10.2m. When equipping the aft deck with the custom tender, the area beneath is dedicated to underwater and on-water excursion toys including a submarine, diving room, hovpods and jet-skis.

While the exact General Arrangement is in the configuration phase, this area can also be converted into a “touch and go” helicopter deck in order to enjoy the most out of this explorer superyacht and the areas it will take you to. This helicopter deck will give the Owner and guests the freedom of exploring even the most secluded areas. With the heli deck version aft, a tender of 9m can be stored under the main deck behind the engine room with a pair of jet skis that are launched using the winged shell door configuration.

In addition to these amenities that can be enjoyed with families and friends, special attention is given to additional storage, ease of provisioning, extra freezing spaces and cold garbage storage that combined complete the package of circumnavigation without a need of stopping in unscheduled ports.

On the Leisure concept, the helipad is substituted with a 6-meter wide swimming pool and sunbeds creating an environment of peace and quiet whilst enjoying the ultimate cruising experience. The 9m tender is cleverly placed in the lazarette, which uses an overhead crane to deploy it easily over the side into the sea.

For both the True Luxury Explorer and Leisure design, the beach club area is to the stern, thus providing friends and families’ unforgettable moments enjoying their culinary and drinks whilst admiring the activities going on. An additional feature comes with the hydraulically operated bottom hinged transom door which creates an extended area for the beach club.

The purpose of having two inside dining tables is to be able to dine on the sun deck (observation deck) with 360 degrees of view in an enclosed area that can be turned into an alfresco dining area at the touch of a button operating the sliding doors during your voyages in warmer climates. The other dining table is situated right on the wheelhouse deck of RMK 5000.

The two layouts designed by Hot Lab has both four large cabins in the central part of lower deck with en suite bathroom, perfect for the actual charter market. The crew has four double cabins, a big crew mess and a laundry. This area is placed at the forward part of the lower deck. The crew area is connected by a dedicated staircase to the fully equipped galley on the main deck. On the starboard side, at the center of the main deck, the yacht has a spacious lobby, going forward once arriving in a huge master cabin with a folding balcony, a lounge area, a big vanity and a king size bed. The bathroom is just in front of.

The yacht has an ice-class and is powered by a diesel-electric propulsion or a diesel only option.

The yacht concept MY I.C.E. (Ice Class Explorer) is a collaboration between Azure Yacht Design and the Ukrainian based shipyard Fifth Ocean Yachts.

This untypical 45 m yacht design provides a helicopter deck, four guest cabins, space for a crew of nine persons, a spacious owner’s suite, space for tenders, tenders, toys and diving equipment. Apart from the helicopter deck, she provides a jacuzzi and a bar on the sun deck.
