Dutch luxury yacht builder AMELS presents a new Limited Editions: The AMELS 60

Limited Editions is a series of semi-custom yacht and means that the exterior design and naval architecture are complete, but you can bring your interior designer to create an environment that meets your taste. This saves a lot of time and amount of investment. When the finished hull arrives the facilities in Vlissingen, the shipyard needs about a year to complete the yacht.

The Monaco-based yacht designer Espen Øino is responsible for the exterior design of the AMELS 60, while the shipyard did the naval architecture in-house together with the mother company Damen. It is the second collaboration between AMELS and Espen Øino. The first is a 78m custom yacht currently under construction.

“As a naval architect and as a yacht designer I like how the AMELS 60 optimizes the waterline lengths which increases the length to beam ratio,” commented Mr. Espen Øino and continues. “It is the right way to go. This is a very efficient hull form, which in combination with the hybrid propulsion, makes the AMELS 60 quite unique in this size and range of vessels.”

The AMELS 60 offers a full electric mode up to seven knots to sneak out of the harbor or sail in areas where only vessels with electric propulsion allowed. Moreover, the owner can enjoy reduced noise and vibrations. The hybrid system features Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) filters to reduce the emissions of the generators. The top speed is 15.5 knots, the eco-cruising is 13 knots and offers an operating range of 4,500 nautical miles.

The large sundeck also serves as a landing pad for a helicopter. The foredeck houses two tenders up to 9 meters. A first vessel is under construction; the launch and will leave the building-dock in 2022.

The Interior of the AMELS 60

London-based Studio Indigo – with 50 designers and architects one of the larger design companies did the interior design of the first unit of the AMELS 60. According to the founder and creative director Mike Fisher, they refined the general arrangement to create an ergonomic and efficient interior.

Mr. Fisher explains:

“This was achieved by opening up the views and vistas between spaces to make them feel bigger, lighter and brighter. The interiors are chic and contemporary, using a rich variety of fabrics and textures throughout, allowing the guests onboard to experience different atmospheres that surprise and delight as you walk through the AMELS 60. Consistency of materials, architectural detailing and form means spaces flow easily into the next, thereby creating the illusion of endless space.”
