Vripack prsents a 56m hybrid yacht concept for the German yachtbuilder Nobiskrug

The persona of the 56m hybrid concept is a young owner from Asia or the Middle East. At first sight, the shape appears usually, but at the second, there are the details. Overhangs at the aft area, long balconies on the main and upper deck with glazed bulwarks. Moreover, the open line on the foredeck/tender garage.

The stern shows the “crazy” idea behind the concept. Many design features on the layout are asymmetrical. I am sure it is an adventure to explore this interesting yacht (in case there is a potential client).

Built with a steel hull and aluminum superstructure, the displacement yacht will have a hybrid propulsion system. Vripack calculated a top speed of 14 knots and a cruising speed of 11 knots.

“It’s a project that takes glass to the next level, optimizing all that the material has to offer,” says Joost Mertens, Vripack designer“All the side walls of the superstructure are made of glass, there is no metal at all. The design is not constrained by any traditional yachting design rules.”

“To date, yachts like this have height because the big electric motors push the design up – on this concept, we insisted that the dimensions worked for the owner first, and so the engines became ‘pancake-like’ – instead of up, we went flat and wide. We’re pushing innovation in all areas,” says Marnix Hoekstra.
