The German shipyard has constructed a bespoke Y9, meticulously designed by Bill Tripp and Andrew Winch. This yacht is one of the largest sailing yachts in history to be built within Germany, destined for extensive cruising in the Mediterranean.

Continuing its fruitful collaboration, YYachts has recently completed the delivery of a customized Y9, showcasing the expertise of the two esteemed designers. Bill Tripp is responsible for the yacht’s exterior design, while Andrew Winch has crafted the interior. This 90-foot sloop, a testament to German craftsmanship, has been commissioned by a European client with a vision for extensive cruising.

The Y9 boasts a distinctive deckhouse featuring a luminous interior that will impress. The yacht’s saloon is divided into two levels; the upper floor is designated for dining, offering panoramic views of the sea, while the lower floor is furnished as a lounge area, complete with elegant furnishings.

The owner’s cabin is at the heart of the yacht, accessible through a dressing room that provides ample storage. This suite is a personal sanctuary with a sofa, a dressing table, and a spacious bathroom. The yacht’s design is thoughtfully planned to accommodate families and friends, ensuring an enjoyable experience for extended journeys.

Interior of the Y9

The interior design by Winch Design, located in London, showcases a minimalist and open-plan aesthetic greatly enhanced by abundant natural light. This design is inspired by a blend of U.S. East Coast and mid-century Scandinavian styles, complemented by soft leather and light oak wood, contributing to an ambiance characterized by understated elegance.

The primary objective in developing this yacht was to achieve competitive performance on the regatta circuit while ensuring comfortable sailing characteristics. This was accomplished through YYachts’ standard practice of weight savings in the yacht’s construction and finishing. The hull, deck, internal structure, and rigging are constructed from carbon fiber, ensuring optimal performance.

Thanks to its refined design, the yacht can be operated by a small crew, with thrusters providing support during maneuvers in tight marinas.
