Superyachts need a lot of energy. Even large sailing yachts offer the amenities of air condition, media et cetera. Moreover, a hydraulic and electric system to sail a ship with a small crew. Many yachts using diesel generators to power the systems. Yacht designer Aristotelis Betsis presents with TRIIRIS a state-of-the-art DynaRigged sailing yacht with solar sails.

Solar Sails with Solar Cloth System

French product Solar Cloth System is destined for TRIIRIS with 1,850 square meters of thin solar cells. According to the designer, it is enough to power the with zero emissions. LNG and hydrogen could be possible alternatives.

The superstructure uses a light white respectively a silver metallic in the design to avoid a more extensive air condition system. Large windows are allowing more natural light in the interior for less use of the light system.

Moreover, the designer has a focus for less carbon footprint of the yacht’s construction. For example, the deck uses polyurethane teak deck by the Dutch company Bolidt. The Bolideck Future Teak deck system is still in use of several luxury yachts.

The owners’ area is on the main deck and contains an office, bathroom, walk-in closet and a lounge with fold-out balcony. Furthermore, the bedroom is divisible to have one more cabin.

The guest cabins are on the lower deck with two VIP double cabins and two twin cabins. All cabins have walk-in closets and ensuite bathrooms. Also, the crew area for 18 people in eight cabins is there.

Tenders find a place in a garage and on the foredeck.
