The Highest Latitude: An Epic Yacht Expedition Movie

Film maker Shelton du Preez of Luxury Yacht Films produced an epic movie of a yacht expedition in Svalbard.

It seems to be going a trend to sail far, far away from the typical high-society party locations in the Med. In the last time, the 55m M/Y KAMALAYA and also M/Y GENE MACHINE visited this area. Every time again I enjoy those pictures.

The 45m M/Y LATITUDE was built by Timmerman and features an interior design by Bannenberg & Rowell. Exterior design and naval architecture came from the boards of Vripack.

Book Ends Heesen Yacht

Book Ends by Heesen Yachts

Heesen announced that M/Y Book Ends (aka Project Ruya, aka YN 17947) is now delivered to the owner

Book Ends is a 47m full displacement motor yacht under 500 GT with a total exterior deck space of 180 sqm. Her sun deck has a space of 85 sqm.

At the stern is a transom that transforms into a swim platform. There will be also the tender garage with a stored 6.5m tender and a 3m jet ski.

The captain comments:

“It feels very safe as Book Ends’ structure is solid – Dutch solid! The vessel is very responsive and accepts steering commands immediately. The use of the large rudders in conjunction with the power steering unit makes for a very quick reaction when the steering tiller is moved, even the slightest amount.
We can’t wait to welcome the Owners on board their new home away from home!”

Book Ends‘ interior was designed by Bannenberg & Rowell. Twelve guests can sleep aboard in 5 staterooms. The owner’s suite is located on the main deck at the forward area. The other staterooms are on the lower deck and equipped with ensuite bathrooms.

“We took the idea of movement as the foundation for the new interior concept for Project Ruya,” Dickie Bannenberg comments, “so expect a taut muscular and fluid design with sporty, hi-tech finishes. The ambiance will be fresh and light with textiles, carpets, and graphics discreetly referencing themes of energy, direction, and progress. We feel this is synonymous with Heesen’s progressive and contemporary brand values, and that Project Ruya will be a worthy complement to the Heesen fleet. She is our fifth collaboration with the yard in its popular 47m class.”

The yacht is powered by two MTU 8V 4000 diesel engines for a top speed of 15.6 knots (0.6 knots over contract). At an economical speed of 12 knots, she has a transatlantic range of 4,000 nautical miles.

Book Ends will spend the summer in the Mediterranean and will cross the Atlantic for the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show.

CID Yacht Feadship

CID by Feadship

Feadship launched CID – another unit of their 35m-class.

CID comes up with the same exterior style (designed by Feadship De Voogt Naval Architects) like Letani, Kamino, Moon Sand Too and Avatar.

CID was built for an owner who likes to explore smaller marinas and bays with friends. The seems not to be the classic yacht owner. The launch party included a first maiden tour in the Dutch canals and he intends to take part of the sea trials. Furthermore, he wants also to steer the yacht by himself.

CID Yacht Feadship

The interior was designed by Bannenberg & Rowell with interior styling by Marty Lowe, client’s long-time interior designer. Because there are no interior pictures of the publishing date of this blog post, here how Feadship describes the interior:

“The interior is geared to practical use rather than gilded edges, all within a sophisticated jacket. There are wooden floors throughout the main deck (using the same design that the client saw during a visit to Feadship TV), a giant television and a big screen projector in the main lounge so that guests watch can two sports events simultaneously.

While taking these bespoke use-based factors into action, Bannenberg & Rowell Design has successfully designed a crisp and simple architectural interior palette of oak, walnut and wenge, taking advantage of the 2.45m headroom in the main saloon and associated expansive glazing. Marty Lowe, the client’s long-time interior designer, oversaw the selection
of soft furnishings, loose furniture, and decorative objects, all of which have been combined to produce a calm, pale West Coast vibe.”

The first journey will go to the Fjords and the Mediterranean. The winter’s station will be the west coast of Mexico and the rest of the summer on the Baja California Peninsula.

Joy by Feadship

Feadship launched JOY (70 m)

Feadship announced the launch of the 70m motor yacht JOY

JOY is the first exterior design by UK-based design studio Bannenberg & Rowell (since the death of the great Jon Bannenberg in 2002). The interior was designed by Studio Indigo.

Dickie Bannenberg commented:

“It has been a great pleasure to work with an owner who was keen to bring something new to the superyacht world in the same way as my father did from the early 80s onwards with Feadship and others

While our design studio has an excellent reputation for interiors, including twelve for Feadship owners, Joy is the first visible exterior design of a new era for us. The flow between the interior and exterior spaces and her generous wide walkways are without precedent on a motor yacht of this size and the vast exterior spaces have been used to great effect. Moreover, the wealth of concave shapes in the superstructure and judicious use of surface texturing have given Joy a design language and identity all her own.”

Feadship 34m Motor Yacht

Feadship launches 34m Motor Yacht

"Small" but mighty - a very untypically sized Feadship of 34m for many years.

The in-house design team De Voogt Naval Architects gave her an exterior with an amount of glass. Also a modern and stylish vertical bow design and a big covered area on the sun deck.

The 34m is a great Idea for people who want to benefit from Feadship’s experience and Quality but don’t want to own a bigger yacht. There are also two other 34m yachts in the queue. All designed as commercial yachts (LY3).

The owner has his stateroom on the main deck. On the lower deck are suites for eight guests. There are double and twin cabins available. The twin cabins can be converted into a VIP cabin. The interior was styled by Bannenberg & Rowell.

Feadship 34m Motor Yacht

“Three years ago, the owner of a pure custom Feadship asked us to build a smaller yacht to Feadship standards. It needed to have a length and draught that would allow access to new markets where mooring facilities are restricted and facilitate cruising in shallower depths. We don’t like saying no to clients at Feadship so we decided to explore whether it was even practical to design and construct a 34-meter cruiser to Feadship quality within the boundaries of this compact size.”

Feadship 34m Motor Yacht

“Our research established that, while building such a custom yacht was indeed possible, it would only be economically viable for the client if we built three of them to the same design template. Turning normal market dynamics on their head, we, therefore, agreed to our client’s proposal as long as he could introduce two more clients who would like to order one of these unique Feadships while, of course, having flexibility in terms of the interior.”

Moon Sand Feadship Yacht

Moon Sand - a new 44m Feadship Motor Yacht

Moon Sand - the 44m Feadship in-house (de Voogt Naval Architects) designed yacht with interior design by Bannenberg & Rowell was launched at the Feadship facility in Makkum.

Moon Sand was designed for a highly experienced yacht owner. The design brief has three key elements:

“namely light, space and freedom of choice in terms of recreation”

For me, the special feature on Moon Sand is the reverse flow swimming pool on the main deck. The tender is stored on the sun deck. That saves space for an own garage. The pool features a lifting floor system. The pool can be used as a safe place for kids when the floor lifted up or can be used for swimmers including the reverse system with down lowered floor. We talking of a compactly sized superyacht ;).

Feadship Sales Director Bas Nederpelt comments:

“Over the past months, we have completed an exceptional number of Feadships, ranging in size from 44 to over 100 meters. We have also had the pleasure to work with some marvelous exterior designers, such as Ed Dubois, Tim Heywood, and Andrew Winch. Moon Sand is a testimony to the design excellence we at Feadship can offer clients ourselves.

Take the way the modern superstructure element rises above the classic Feadship bow – and how this element connects with the whole design via the strong and continuous profile line – and you can see why Moon Sand is a superior fusion of contemporary and traditional styles. Her sleek look reflects the fact that her senior designer Tanno Weeda and his team at Feadship have worked tirelessly to create a unified design. And they have certainly succeeded.”

Moon Sand‘s owner’s area has large stateroom, study, two bathrooms and two walk-in dressing rooms. Three suits reserved for six guests. Two of the suits can be transformed into a single stateroom with a separate seating area. A full beam VIP suite is located forward.
