Design Unlimited created an excellent interior design for the Damen SeaXplorer 58 PINK SHADOW. Azure Yacht Design made the exterior design.
This personalized Explorer 58, designed with significant input from its owner, offers indoor and outdoor living, allowing the owner to enjoy adventures with loved ones worldwide. The yacht has a wide selection of playthings to support exploration, including two versatile tenders, motorcycles, and vehicles suitable for paved and unpaved terrains.
The owner, a previous client of Design Unlimited (Pink Gin VI), was thrilled to have us bring their unique design aesthetic to life on this 58m yacht.
The initial request from the owner centered around creating a more social exploration experience, aiming to entertain guests across various global locations and extend their time spent on board. Design Unlimited’s goal was to design an interior that surpassed the traditional explorer yacht concept, focusing on making the spaces versatile and interconnected with the exterior and the open sea. Additionally, the owner requested a theme inspired by the film ‘Fitzcarraldo,’ depicting a vintage steamboat’s journey down the Amazon River, reflecting the owner’s affection for South America.
The spacious main suite features a siesta room adjacent to it, complete with a day bed and an owner’s lounge. This suite is designed in an open layout, resembling a private apartment.
The Fitzcarraldo lounge is inspired by the 1982 German film of the same name, adopting its colors and patterns and deep connection with nature. A standout element is a rug depicting the Fitzcarraldo boat sailing down the Amazon. A rustic boat bar is created as the lounge extends onto the exterior deck, symbolizing a fresh start. This unique blend of textures, from luxurious velvet to leather, and the integration of outdoor elements indoors adds a touch of luxury. Using screens in the lounge helps to divide the space, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere for guests.
At the peak of the ship is the Amazonas bar. Here, you’ll find a bar counter with a statement design, a barbecue grill for outdoor cooking, a dining area for enjoying meals outside, and a Jacuzzi tub offering 180-degree views.
The Havana lounge is on the upper deck and offers a different vibe than the Amazonas bar. It’s a cigar bar focused on nighttime drinks and conversations, with a small deck area that provides views of the bow and seating under a canopy.
A standout feature of the ship’s design is the beach club. This unique space features a mix of textures, including bamboo walls with weathered, painted woods that seem to have been collected from a beach walk. The interior is decorated so that the colors blend well together, and a remarkable mosaic ceiling highlights the bar counter. Beyond the bar, there’s an infinity-edge Jacuzzi tub. Balconies with specially designed chairs are placed along the side of the boat to connect with the water. As you go through the beach club towards the central lobby, you’ll come across the Pink Shadow ’boutique,’ where guests can find everything they need for their day’s activities, including snacks and drinks to enjoy.
The bridge also boasts an impressive design, featuring high-end finishes and a large sofa that encourages the owner and guests to join in on the bridge team’s view of the boat’s operations and maneuvers. The lounge is designed to resemble the tops of trees in a rainforest’s canopy, with painted birds adding to the ambiance.
A lift connects the main deck to the sun deck, serving all the guest areas.
The owner’s deep involvement in the design process and close partnership with the team have created a yacht that exceeds expectations. This yacht is truly one-of-a-kind.
