The owner of the 35m motor yacht JANGADA is a third-time repeat client.

The creator of this trio of Jangadas initiated the first one in 2013 (25m Jangada) and a second (32m Jangada) was launched in 2019 has since crafted all three alongside the workshop and designers Nick Top and Guido de Groot. The initial Jangada to benefit from this mutually beneficial and ever-growing partnership was one of the earliest models to be introduced at Van der Valk. This concept has since inspired various notable projects for other clients.

The development of the Jangada yachts has closely reflected the owner’s journey, including the need for additional space to accommodate a more prominent family and modifications to his living spaces in the Bay of St Tropez. Various specific desires related to personal comfort have also been considered for this latest creation. For example, there is now a greater demand for reduced noise and vibration, leading to the choice of a steel hull and aluminum superstructure, along with exceptional soundproofing throughout.

Similarly, for moments when the owner prefers not to swim in the traditional morning around the yacht, the new Jangada will feature a jet-stream pool at the rear of the flybridge deck. This pool, measuring 4.5 meters long and 1.5 meters deep, will require approximately 7,200 liters of water. Beyond the apparent stability issues such a large volume presents, the designers also had to allocate space for a warm-water storage tank below the tender garage.

Incorporating this pool was among the many intricate elements for the exterior design, with the owner wanting to maintain the sophisticated raised pilothouse appearance while enjoying the benefits of an additional deck. This extra space is achieved through a clever use of graphic lines and a robust yet timeless design. The addition of a large pool also necessitated the creation of a warm-water storage tank in the hull under the tender garage.

The pool’s integration was just one of the many challenges in the design process, with the owner wanting to keep the raised pilothouse look while enjoying the advantages of an extra deck. The additional volume is achieved through a complex arrangement of lines and a strong yet timeless aesthetic. Giant windows in the main saloon and ceilings that are 2.6 meters high are among the results of the extra height, which allows for a raised seating area above the recessed pool. All these elements contribute to Jangada’s unique and truly custom design.

Large windows also play a significant role in the yacht’s interior atmosphere, enhancing the views from inside. This aligns perfectly with another of the owner’s requests to have panoramic views from both the main deck and the wheelhouse, which will also serve as a second lounge. An integrated solution was found by allowing the dashboard screens to be folded away when the helm is not in use, ensuring there is no obstruction of views for the owner during relaxation or breakfast at anchor.

A standout feature will be enhanced privacy, achieved by separating the crew area and the main flow from the places where owners and guests stay. Like the pantry and galley, the crew areas will be well-sealed to block out noise. The main suite for the captain is situated at the front of the main deck. The guest cabins on the lower level will be customized for a family lifestyle, featuring exceptional amenities for the owner’s kids and grandkids. A compact gym will be available for exercise when the weather isn’t suitable for swimming.

The interior design will reflect the personality of the owner and their family’s lifestyle. The architecture will be practical and well-proportioned, focusing on structure, space, and light. Jangada will boast a meticulously crafted interior featuring 4/10th whitewashed wood. The Van der Valk team is preparing for a significant project that is expected to be finished in just twenty-two months. Keep an eye out…
