Italian shipyard Cantiere delle Marche sold a Flexplorer 165 to an American client.
The newest Flexplorer 165 showcases the dedication to innovation and personalization. One of the Owner’s unique requests involves a standard pickleball court, which requires significant modifications to the basic model’s structure. The shipyard crafted a distinctive design to accommodate this by extending the Upper deck’s overhang. A light framework of carbon fiber poles and a net surrounds the pickleball court to ensure balls don’t escape over the edge. Viewers can enjoy the game from two exclusive viewing spots: one next to the court on the Upper deck and another offering a “sky-view” from the sun deck. Moreover, the Upper deck is constructed and equipped to handle the operations of an EC130 helicopter.
The extended Upper deck also creates a large shaded area on the Main deck, home to a 7-meter tender and jet skis operated with an overhead crane. When the tender and jet skis are in the water, the area transforms into a lavish outdoor lounge with a bar, heated pool, movable furniture, and foldable barriers. A second 5-meter tender is stored on the Upper deck, while the Sun deck is designed to hold two more jet skis. To support the Owner’s active lifestyle on and off the water, the yacht will have two dedicated storage areas for recreational gear: one in the lazarette below the main deck and another near the crew area on the lower deck. This second area is accessible through a hull door, making it easy to load supplies, which are then stored in a dedicated galley area and a walk-in freezer. Additionally, a locker has been installed for waste storage, capable of holding garbage for up to two weeks.
The yacht builder strongly emphasized accessibility, with an elevator serving the lower, main, and upper decks. The wellness facilities on board are top-notch, featuring a gym and massage area on the Upper deck and a thermal therapy area on the Sun deck with a sauna and an ice tub pool operating between 8°C and 12°C. In terms of performance, the Flexplorer 165, powered by two Caterpillar C32 ACERT engines, each generating 970 kW at 1800 rpm, stands out with a top speed of 15 knots and a cruising range of 4800 nautical miles at 10 knots. The layout includes four guest cabins on the lower deck, an owner’s cabin on the main deck, living quarters for the crew in five cabins, and a captain’s cabin. This remarkable project was brought to life through the skills of Christian Bakewell of Burgess, who introduced the client to the innovative exterior design and naval architecture by HydroTec and the sophisticated interior design by Design Unlimited.
