The Baglietto X50 - a 50m observation yacht
The Baglietto X50, designed by Paszkowski Design, is not merely an explorer in the conventional sense. Instead, it represents a fresh approach to experiencing, observing, and perceiving the vastness of the sea, as Erri de Luca once described as the sole criterion for defining a journey. Explore, Experience, and Observe – these are the pillars of the XO collection. Because on these yachts, the capacity to make extended voyages is coupled with the chance to understand their essence through an exceptional viewing platform. A standout aspect of this project is the observation deck above the helm, a unique and private space providing an expansive view of the oceanic surroundings.
Designed for extended cruising, the observatory evolves into a recreational area that alleviates the tedium of sea travel. Distinct from traditional explorers, the X50 enables you to navigate a circular route. Expansive, unobstructed windows provide a 360° view, while the central skylight allows glimpses of the sky and the allure of starry nights. Within is a ‘visual room,’ a sheltered, cozy space complete with plush seating and sofas for moments of relaxation, even on the chilliest days, while maintaining the wonder of the journey. Adjacent to the lounge, six large, independent screens have been installed, which can be used individually or together. Each monitor offers a unique experience, allowing guests to watch a movie or listen to music, view the chosen route on digital charts, and even experience navigation from a drone’s perspective without any obstructions or limitations.
Innovation often springs from looking to other fields: the XO was inspired by the railway industry, specifically the renowned ETR 300 ‘Settebello,’ which in the 1950s transformed the entire idea of a train. The XO design incorporates the groundbreaking features of this historic train—like the elevated control station above the passengers and a first-class viewing lounge below it—but flips them on their heads, keeping the control bridge on the top deck and making the top area exclusive for guests.
Although it might seem at odds with the sleek, free-flowing designs of all Baglietto yachts by Paszkowski Design, these boats keep many of the brand’s classic looks, keeping the ‘work boat-style’ typical of an Explorer without losing their refined elegance and beauty. The compact flybridge has smooth, glass surfaces with an incredible 360° view. At the same time, the upper deck models are inspired by the successful design of a veranda that opens on three sides of the T52, which has also inspired the main deck.
Drawing from the T52’s design, the boat’s hull is built to handle transatlantic voyages: the front is reinforced and pointed to make rope management easier and crew movements quicker, even in rough weather. Safety is also a priority, with ample space for storing large tenders for cruising in turbulent seas.
The back area is noteworthy, accessed through a large transformer. A central glass hatch opens to a versatile space that includes a gym for use while at sea, a large storage room for outdoor furniture when the tenders are docked, and space for storing other items like bikes when the tenders are out on the water.
Using eco-friendly ceramic materials, solar panels on the flybridge roof for recharging water toys, and special paints reflect the shipyard’s commitment to environmental conservation.
This new series is available in a broad selection of configurations, especially in the aft area, which can comfortably accommodate two large tenders (up to 10 meters long) and in a wide range of colors for unparalleled customization.
The X50 will feature two CAT C32 engines capable of reaching a top speed of 16 knots.
