In the Netherlands, Van der Valk has kicked off work on Project EVO, a 40-meter superyacht that will be the yard's biggest in both length and volume.

SFG Yacht Design and Cristiano Gatto Design designed its stylish exterior. Gatto also designed the interior, adjusting the design and focusing on the intricate details. The yacht will be constructed entirely of aluminum and designed as a bluewater cruiser, aiming for a top speed of 24 knots.

Seasoned clients commissioned the yacht. They have a history of owning high-performance yachts and are now looking to craft a custom yacht for their family. The buyers chose Van der Valk, opting for a Dutch approach to ensure the highest quality. The development team includes naval architects from Diana Yacht Design and Ginton Naval Architects, ensuring the yacht meets ABS class standards and the latest IMO Tier III emissions regulations.

The EVO project is expected to be quite large, as it was expanded by several meters throughout a design and consultation phase that was deeply engaged with the clients. The project was influenced by a stunning design by Franco Gianni of SFG Yacht Design and Doga Naz Cebeci from Fancy by Dada, which inspired the owners. Initially, Cristiano Gatto Design was part of the project, focusing on the arrangement and the overall interior design.

“My participation began on a micro level as we worked with the owners to leverage on some specific furniture design concepts I had previously created. They were looking to recreate a similar ambience onboard their yacht and the interior design emerged from this point. Welcoming the results, the owners asked us to add some of this aesthetic flavour to the exterior design, further evolving the DNA of the preliminary concept penned by SFG and Fancy by Dada. We changed some of the proportions and lines while extending the stern by around two metres. The overall design and profile, however, remains very much the brainchild of all who have been involved.”
