The 43-meter Project Triple X, designed by Vripack, has officially started construction with its keel laying. This project is currently in progress at Alia Yachts in Turkey.

The American owners, well-versed in yachting, decided to step away from their previous boat-building ventures to begin their journey with a custom yacht. Project Triple X marks their debut in the explorer category, symbolized by the ‘X’ in its name.

The Dutch design studio’s comprehensive strategy was evident from the start. Hoekstra describes how Vripack’s strategy of keeping early design concepts on the smaller side of what a client can afford is the most effective method for maximizing the interior space of a yacht.

This strategy is particularly evident in the demand from owners for expansive walk-in closets and large bathrooms, which demanded more space than the 40m platform could accommodate. The necessity for adequate operations and maintenance in the engine room also stretched the yacht’s length. At the same time, additional storage for toys and technical equipment necessitated a bigger lazarette.

The owners’ desire to accommodate an 8m beachlander tender from X-Craft was another priority.

Positioning the tender at the “center” of the main deck, behind the bulwarks, creates a spacious bridge deck behind, the main deck behind, and the bow. When the tender is in the water, the open bulwarks transform into a veranda, allowing the dining area and gym to extend onto the water.

Additional core design principles encompass a living space designed specifically for a boat owner. Situated on the aft part of the bridge deck, this comprehensive master suite features a dedicated office (a key element considered essential by the owner) and an impressive private deck area. Below, four guest suites are available. The space also includes ample outdoor storage, extensive engineering areas, and additional living quarters for a crew of 10.

Distinctive exterior elements include a pronounced bow with a superstructure that leans back from the mast, creating an illusion of velocity, even when docked. The sun deck is a leisure area with a jacuzzi, viewing lounges, and a bar and grill.
