NDS Evolution by JFA Yachts (Long Island 85)

JFA Yachts delivered the second unit of the Long Island 85-series, christened NDS EVOLUTION. The first unit is the Windquest.

The exterior design of the Long Island 85 comes from naval architect Marc Lombard. The yacht is a lightweight construction with aluminum hulls and composite superstructure. Furthermore, NDS EVOLUTION is equipped with a carbon fiber rig and a performance sail design with D4 technology. The whole yacht comes with a displacement of just 56 tons. During the sea trials, the yacht reached eleven knots upwind with true winds of fifteen knots.

Darnet Design is responsible for the interior design that features lightweight furniture. The saloon features a 360-degree view, dining table, a helm station and a bar. In the hulls are three guest cabins, two crew cabins, and the galley.

The owner’s cabin is located on the foredeck (has the full-beam between the hulls) and features a panoramic view and direct access to the foredeck net. The owners’ bathroom has been placed in the port side hull together with the children cabin with three beds and a guest cabin.

The starboard hull has two further guest cabins, the galley and the cabin for a crew of two.

JFA Yachts: Finot-Conq Fast-Cruiser

JFA Yachts built a 22m (70 feet) fast-cruiser sailing yacht, designed by Finot-Conq

The fast-cruiser has the project name FC² 70′ – FC² stands for Finot Conq x Fast Cruiser. The design studio is very well-known for performance oriented sailing yachts.

FC² has an aluminum hull, a superstructure in glass/epoxy and a carbon rig.

The draft of 4.40 m provides a deep barycenter for a large sail plan for more speed. To spent time in smaller harbors and anchor bays, the draft can be reduced to 2.00 m.

The interior uses a lightweight veneer of Zebrano. The owner’s cabin and a cabin for the crew is forward located while two guest cabins are at the aft.

A tender of 3.40 m can be stored in a stern garage. Sea trials start soon before the yacht will be delivered to her owner.

Windquest JFA Yachts Catamaran

26m Catamaran Windquest by JFA Yachts

JFA Yachts from France delivered the first unit of the Long Island 85 sailing catamaran - the Windquest.

This fast cruising catamaran is the first of a semi-custom “Long Island” series. The hulls are aluminium-built while the deck is in a composite material. They have been assembled by bonding. This method has been chosen with the naval architect Marc Lombard, to save weight when keeping aluminum hulls.

This 85’ catamaran offers spaces and performs like a 100’-110’ monohull but with a reduced draught, more comfort and increased stability.

Fitted with a carbon mast and boom, her sail area is that of a high-performance sailing yacht.

This yacht is equipped with 2 x 380HP engines and 2 x 27kW generators. At her economical speed, WindQuest motors at 8.6 knots for a fuel consumption of 21 l/h and can reach 12.9 knots at top speed.
The 16’ tender stowed aft of the cockpit is launched using an ingenious system comprising a retractable pole in the main boom. This is again a method of optimizing the weight without using a crane.

Numerous deck lockers allow the stowing of fenders and mooring ropes as well as all the toys (inflatable SUP boards, snorkeling equipment, wakeboard…). On this boat, a large garage opening on the aft platform has been provided for stowing 4 bicycles.

Outside, there is a large aft cockpit with a seating area on starboard and another one on port with a dining table, sunbeds either side and a day head. On WindQuest the cockpit can be enclosed using removable panels of a seethrough canvas.

The flybridge is the home of the outside helm and control winches, leaving room for a seating area and sun- beds.

Again in order to keep the weight of the boat down, teak decking has been used only forward of the owners’ cabin and in the aft cockpit.

The cockpit is extended inside by a seating area with a bar on starboard and a dining-room on the port. The helm station is set up against the bulkhead between the two indoor areas. The glass door aft, the large side portholes, and the front windscreen create a very luminous space down below.

A few steps on port lead to the owners’ cabin. The “must-have” on the Long Island 85! Stretching across the full beam of the yacht, this exceptionally large suite offers a superb view on 180°, never before seen on a sailing or even on a motor yacht of this size. A few more steps give access to a door opening on a private deck just forward of the owners’ cabin.

The Long Island 85 is available in 3 versions: 3 guest cabins and an office (like WindQuest); 4 guest cabins and 5 guest cabins.

WindQuest had her maiden voyage in southern Brittany and will sail along the coasts of the English Channel and of the Atlantic between London and Lisbon before heading for the West Indies in October.
This superyacht is available for charter and is scheduled to be in Europe and the West Indies the first two years, then in North America around the Great Lakes and in the West Indies the 3rd year.

The Long Island 85 offers more space and comfort than any yacht of her size.
