FEMKE Yacht Feadship Project 697

Feadship Project 697 FEMKE

The 47m Project 697 represents a very classic dressed Feadship motor yacht and was christened FEMKE

Exterior design and naval architecture of Project 697 was done by Feadship’s in-house designer De Voogt. Although she appears as a classic yacht, she got some modern touches like big windows.

Feadship describes FEMKE’s interior as follows:

“The interior echoes the exterior in its delicate nautical theme overlaid with contemporary details and state-of-the-art technology. It consists entirely of high-gloss dark European walnut panels, light oak parquet, white wooden ceilings and judiciously placed white paneling. The galley, which adjoins the owners’ stateroom and is designed with a clever central nook where the owners and their guests can spend time, is exceptionally spacious and well-appointed, featuring the same high-gloss lacquered walnut finishing with exclusive stainless steel countertops – an outstanding example of a bespoke solution that reflects how time at sea will be enjoyed.”

The owner’s suite is located forward on the main deck with a large bathroom. The guests’ quarter is on the lower deck with four cabins. There are two double and two twin cabins. The captain’s cabin including en-suite bathroom and office is on the bridge deck.

At the aft is a beach club located and designed like

“watersport shop with hanging rods for wetsuits and lifejackets, baskets for small private belongings, and racks for toys.”.

“Pure custom creation Another example of pure custom creation is the door of the tender garage, positioned aft to port. This location would have required the bulwark above to be reinforced in order to contain the hinge, but this had to be an entirely flush surface. In response, Feadship’s engineers suspended the door on two beams, which slide out 70 cm before swinging open.”.

Oliver Stirling of Stirling & Co says:

[…]We feel that an owner of a yacht that embraces the glamorous, romantic personality of the exterior would have classic but modern taste. We feel this owner would want a restrained, sophisticated ‘haute couture’ interior combining contemporary intelligent beauty with the aesthetics of classic proportions to suit the lifestyle of 21st-century cruising, inspired by an earlier glamorous era of yachting.

So, the challenge has been to create an interior that will seamlessly integrate with the calm, timeless elegance of Germán’s graceful sheerline and restrained exterior, pairing future technology with elements of the past.[…]

Stirling furthermore:

[…]So, with a portfolio of some of the most famous award-winning yachts ever built, Royal Huisman, with their hallmark of meticulous attention to detail, undoubtedly have precisely the right pedigree to build a yacht of this caliber, to the highest standards of modern comfort, technology and safety.

In MARLIN we have breathed new life into an iconic motor yacht genre. We have re-imagined a classic for a new era in an understated, sophisticated ‘sporty chic’ manner.

Inspired by a forward-thinking and discerning Owner, the design team and build team look forward to collaborating to bring the exceptional vision of Project MARLIN into life.”

Vendetta Billy Joel

Billy Joel donates his M/Y Vendetta to SeaKeepers Society

American Singer-Songwriter, composer, and pianist Billy Joel donated his 17m commuter motor yacht Vendetta to the International SeaKeeper Society.

Vendetta was offered for $1,295,000 before Billy Joel decided to donate his beautiful yacht from 2005 in a 1920’s / 1930’s dress.

Billy Joel also designed the yacht with naval architect Doug Zurn of Zurn Yacht Design. North End Composites in Maine constructed the hull, while Coecles Harbor and Derecktor Shipyards finished the boat.

The International SeaKeepers Society promotes oceanographic research, conservation, and education through direct involvement with the yachting community.

Michael Moore, Chairman of the Board of The International SeaKeepers Society stated,

“The International SeaKeepers Society greatly appreciates the generosity of Mr. Billy Joel. Mr. Joel just keeps on giving. First, through his amazing talent and music and now in this way to help protect and restore the sea around us. All who care for and worry about the health of the world’s oceans appreciate this wonderful gift!”

Do you want to help the SeaKeepers without donating your yacht? There is the DISCOVERY Yachts program. You can offer your yacht for access to the ocean for research, scientific discovery, community outreach, and artistic inspiration.

A group of yacht owners founded the International SeaKeepers Society in 1998 to protect the oceans.

Rhoades Young Design 49m Explorer Classic Yacht

49m Classic Explorer Concept by Rhoades Young Design

The British design company Rhoades Young presents a concept of a 49m classic styled explorer motor yacht.

The concept is inspired by the JFA built motor yacht Bystander (2006) which was created as an escort vessel for the 39m J-Class sailing yacht Velsheda (JK7). Rhoades Young designed both. Exterior and interior.

A classic yacht concept like this is a very good choice for people who love classic yachts with the latest marine (safety) technology for adventures around the world in gentleman style. In my opinion, the best option if you can resign a yacht with hundred years of history which often interesting for lovers of classic yachts.

Rhoades Young Design 49m Explorer Classic Yacht

The owner’s area is located under the bridge deck with a 180-degree view over the sea. The owner’s suite features a study, an inside/outside saloon separated by large glass sliding doors which flood the saloon with natural light.

The classic explorer can store two big tenders up to 9 meters under the huge aft deck area. A smaller crew tender finds his place on the foredeck.

The yacht accommodates 12 guests and 12 crew members. One of the design specials is a “quadruple-height staircase” that emphasizes the center of the yacht.

Résumé: Design is always a question of taste, but the layout with big hidden tender storage, big aft deck and private owner’s deck is great! Thumbs up, Rhoades Young!
