Van Geest Design and Rob Doyle created the 93m ketch-rigged concept RIPPLE

Both designers are experienced with very big sailing yachts. They were colleagues when they worked for Ron Holland and created Mirabella V (now S/Y M5).

The 93m RIPPLE has a performance-oriented hull inspired by the Open 60 racing yachts. A swing keel can reduce the draft from 16 meters to 6.46 meters. A focus in the design process was a family-friendly deck layout with entertainment areas on the foredeck.

The lower deck features an impressive size of 645 m², the main deck comes with 444 m² and last but not least the bridge deck offers 144 m² of interior space.

RIPPLE‘s big open stern should be looking very inviting when it is moored with the stern in the marina or guests being transferred with tenders when the yacht is at anchor. This area features sunbathing areas and a pool. Stairs connecting the main deck area with big u-shaped sofas. Tenders are stored in garages. There are two 10m tenders for the guests and a 6m crew tender.

The designers explain:

“Today looking at the market and recently launched projects, we can see how sailing yachts are now competing with Motor yachts, not only with their increased interior volume but also on deck lifestyle.
However, when these sailing yachts are under sail, a ten degrees heel is scary and control on the sheer size of sails and sheets becomes extreme.

But here we remain with a true desire to be close to the water line, with the romantic wish to feel the motion while crossing the ocean.”
