Van der Valk Shipyard's fleet of bespoke superyachts will include the 35-meter Samba in the summer of 2025. The all-aluminium tri-deck explorer is custom-built.

Designed in collaboration with clients deeply engaged in every stage of the design process, with designer Guido de Groot (exterior and interior), every detail of this tri-deck explorer, made entirely of aluminum, is meticulously crafted to transform it into a remarkable home at sea. Diana Yacht Design and Ginton Naval Architects made the naval architecture.

Just like any outstanding house on land, every premier waterfront residence boasts a garden, and this principle has been the guiding light for Samba, which focuses on creating delightful outdoor spaces for three generations of a family who plan to spend a lot of time on board. Drawing inspiration from Van der Valk’s Lady Lene, the owners of Samba have asked for a spacious aft deck that will feature a relaxation area with a big sofa facing the sea and a formal dining table for outdoor meals and lunches.

More outdoor enjoyment for the family will be found in a grand beach club with a relaxation area, a high-end sauna and steam room, and ample space for drying towels. The large transformer platform will sink into the water, making swimming easier for guests. A smooth transition between the outdoor and indoor areas, through furniture and flooring, will enhance the luxurious lifestyle feel; for instance, sliding doors in the bridge deck saloon will open on three sides to provide the best view of the outdoors while keeping it cool.

A central staircase featuring a single, grand column that spans the yacht from the lower to the bridge deck will act as a functional piece of art and a means to enhance mobility. Given that the family will frequently use the galley, it has been designed with ample workspace, a cooking island, and ceiling-mounted air purifiers to prevent the diffusion of cooking smells.

The main suite is situated on the main deck and boasts an office and a comfortable lounge for the owners to unwind and enjoy reading books, similar to their experiences on land. A spacious bathroom with a private toilet and shower is cleverly designed to utilize sliding doors, making the suite appear more spacious. The couple’s walk-in closets, equipped with extensive storage, will also accommodate long-term living.

Below the deck are two exclusive VIP cabins and two twin suites, each with its entry foyers. The crew quarters are positioned at the bow, separated from the guest area by a watertight bulkhead. The captain will enjoy a luxurious cabin near the wheelhouse, complete with an office offering ample file storage space. Every detail in the design has been carefully thought out to ensure that both owners, their families, guests, and crew members feel at home aboard Samba.
